A co-worker took me out today for a spin in his car ... one of those twin turbo BMW 135 coupes. He says he has done an upgrade which increased the power by about 70 horses. Apparently it has electornically controlled waste gates and the upgrade increases the boost from 8psi to 12psi.

All I can say is, "holy crap!". That thing is really fast. Those turbos kick in early and it just keeps pulling. He got it up to 130 and then let out of it. I was like, "dude this is not safe, please slow down". I am not at all used to those kind of speeds.

I know there are faster cars out there, including some of the cars you guys on this forum have, but for me, I can't remember the last time I was in a car that fast. I have no idea if mine is as fast either, it is sitting (again!) and I have never gone that fast in it, especially on the highway.

I drove my bosses 335i which has that same motor. My first thought was that it would be a pretty close race between it and my car. I had to look up the numbers and it's a mid-13 second car, not even close to mine. Turbos are definitely more fun, which is why I'll be putting one on my car. :nice:

Yep. I had a modded turbo car and the ruusshhhh is awesome but nowhere near what I got now lol,.

Let me add I like them a lot too Chris. BUT I was suprised to know even the "1" series weights 3400#.

The 1 series isnt that small of a car. It is 10 inches shorter.....but its 5 inches wider, 4 inches taller, and its wheel base is 3 inches longer. <--- which is crazy since its overall length is 10 inches shorter than ours!

Combined that with superior materials BMW usually uses... 3400 seems about right :nice:.

BUT then again, the 335 is shorter than our car....and its got 4 doors. Makes you think how our cars could be considered too big.
