my 95 auto is startin to **** can... vibrates usually on hills probably goin from 2nd to 3rd i would assume?

what is the typical price of a rebuild that i can expect? or would it just be cheaper int he long run to spend a little extra $$$ durin the rebuild and mod the tranny out a bit? all feedback is welcome here fellas! :nice:

I got my aode in my last Mustang rebuilt, it was like 2500. Not at all worth it in my opinion. If I remember correctly you can use the 4r70w (or whatever), from the newer autos and it is a much better trans from what I hear (from 99-04 v-6 and 8's). Or just buy an aode from a company that sells upgraded ones. I'd suggest swapping it out for a t-5. I'm much happier w/ my 5 spd

I'm in favor of swapping in a 4R70W, the beefier version of the AODE. You'll need a chip to correct for the wider ratio gearing. A shiftkit/aftermarket torque convertor will rock your world. Also a great time to add a transmission cooler (less than $100 from Summit). Lotta information here on this if you search.

guys i appreciate that very much.... if its gonna be $2500ish for a rebuild, i might as well just grab another tranny... ill look into the newer trannys...

I paid $1,600 to rebuild mine, by race shop. I also pulled it out myself.
I only put 350 miles on it before i came across a tko-500.
awsome shiftkit, WILL give a nice chirp into second with a stock mustang and drag radials.

If your interested let me know.

There was a guy on here that bought one from a 30k mile 02 or 03 from a JY close to him for $100. I'd say that even if you have to pay a couple hundred to get it to you, it's worth it. Guys are saying that they are reliable behind some really big power.

Don at LaSota racing can burn a chip that cures the gear ratio issues with this trans in a 94/5 GT.

Say you have $300 in the trans(shipped), $300 in a chip, $450 in a convertor and $150 in having LaSota "J mod" the tranny, you'd still be WAY ahead of the game with a MUCH better trans than the AODE.

Jeg's sells an AODE trans ALONE for $1600. You'd still need a convertor.
