Vaccuum leak....need help!

I have a 65 coupe (see sig) which I recently put a 306 ci with all mods listed below. This car has no power steering, no power breaks and a T5 tranny (cable clutch). The car runs relatively well (although I haven't driven her hard during break in) and idles fine. When giving it gas the vaccuum goes up. I've checked the intake bolts and used plenty of sealant during assembly. Checked the carb as well by spraying some ether around it, giving it gas and noticing no "jump" in the throttle. Also replaced gaskets, etc. My AFR heads have several "holes" in the front and rear. I've plugged the four I was sure went though (for smog crap I assume?), but not sure what the others are used for. Anyone have AFR heads?

I'm learning as I go so any help would be appreciated!!

I have used a propane torch to find vacuum leaks. Slide a piece of rubber tubing over the end of the burner head, slide a small piece of metal tubing in the rubber hose. This gives you a way to direct the propane with pinpoint accuracy. The vacuum leak will pull the propane in and the idle speed will increase. No mess or stains with this method.

Just in case it is not obvious, the torch is not lit.
