Valve Spring Help

I need help removing a valve spring on a set of PI heads. The only removal tool i found was this: and its nearly $100 bucks.

Anyone have any tricks or tips? I dont wanna spend this much on a tool i'm going to use once.

that's the tool i used when i removed them


we had that one and another one that was two peices but the same design, probably cheaper cause it was a pain in the ass to use


maybe you can rent one at autozone or advance

i don't have one, when i was taking my ford classes we tore apart some engines

NEWS: i got the valves out with a little rigging lol.. 1 intake and 1 exhaust valve was bent. Both will be here tomrrow. What should i do? Put them back in, and check with a feeler gauge? Or should i let a machine shop git er done?

unless you have a set of gauges to meausure the valve guides, i'd take it to the machine shop

the valves you get can be too small or too large for the bore. they can bore 'em out or order valves with fatter stems to get the right clearance


i can't see them charging all that much anyway
you still need that tool to install them, unless you can rigg'em back in

Well i'm going to put them back in, and then take them to a machine shop to have them looked over and done right. I dont wanna sell a dud ya know?
