Hey everyone, I'm new here and have been waiting to get into a 5.0 stang for a looong time and now I finally have the cash I need to get there. I've never really considered a convertible, but recently I stumbled acrossed one in good shape, 1990 5-speed with less than 60k, bone stock, and unmolested for $5,500. Basically an old guy's summer cruiser. While the price and everything else look great, I cant help but wonder about their potential since I don't see a lot of modded convertibles in my area...everyone drives hardtops.

I'm thinking I eventually want a low 12 second street/strip car, probably supercharged. Just wondering what kinda extra work other than subframe connecters will have to go into a drop top or do I have nothing to worry about?

verts only weigh a few hundred pounds more than a hard top. You can super charge one and it will giddy up like the rest of em.

My 93 has all the usual bolt-ons (see signature) and does just fine, thank you. If you're planning on racing it, you're going to need a cage, but if you're just looking for a street car, you can't beat the wind in your hair and the sound of the pipes.

Love the red! The one I'm looking at has original but extremely boring paint. I think that might have to be the first modification I have to make! It comes in what I can only explain as Chevy Celebrity gray...hm.

What in the world do you do that you can afford a G35 aaaand a stang?? G35's cost a fortune in my area or else I'd probably just drive and mod that.

Owned the Stang outright since I was 20, just modded it as I went along. Bought the G a year or so ago when it was a few years old and swung a killer cash deal. I work FT in computer software and I also run a side biz for myself, anyway.
