Well boys!!!!!! We have success! The OE Ford vert mounts allow the motor to settle and the hood shuts.

The Pioneer mounts have a completely different construction with the rubber parts inside the mount compared to the Ford. Only thing I can come up with is the new mount doesn’t allow the motor to settle. This was key on the passenger side.

Thanks for all your input and F Chinese motor mounts!!!!

The MM's from India using Whale rubber are the worst, in my opinion....

Stop eating them.

The lack of a crunchy shell should have tipped you off.

I am pretty sure that the urethane motor mounts will position the motor higher than the stock rubber mounts. Years ago Ford had two different motor mount for these cars, one was the standard one which the urethane motor mounts are patterned after and the other was for the convertible cars which lowered the motor about 1/2" or more. Later on Ford only had the convertible mounts and that is what you buy in the parts stores.

The 351W in my T-Bird sat too low in the car when I swapped it from a 302W. Canton road race pan was contacting the rack and pinion. I installed the urethan motor mounts and problem solved. Good thing it has a 3" cowl hood.

Why would they mount the motor lower just in convertibles?
An inquiring vert owner mind wants to know...

Design changed somewhere along the way but the engineers at Ford failed to provide me with their calcs….kidding.

It’s well known they drop the motor about 1/2”. I have heard 3/4” but when my buddy worked at OReillys we did compare them and that’s the drop we guesstimated with some straight edges.

Prolly lowers the 'center of gravity'.
My question is what does it do to the angle of the trans?
Must be a non-issue cause I've never heard about any negatives.
Come to think of it I gots a box of 'new' engine mounts and a stocker on a shelf, now which shelf?
