Vortech superchargers question

Im in the market for a blower at the moment and so far ive found a few. The first is a NEW vortech Strim tuner kit. The online retailer i found is selling the first 10 for the price he gets them for. He offered me 2250 for the 99+ one and guarantees it will be lower for my 94. the 2nd one i found is a used one, it is missing oil lines and bolts but is also including guages/other mis.stuff. heres whats included
Vortech V-1 S Trim (Satin) Head Unit for 94-95,including:
- Bracket FMU- 9 lb pulley and 7.25" crank pulley- T Rex- Blower belt(8 rib)
Jet Hot Coated Power Pipe with bypass valve and K&N Clock Dash Pod with 2 1/16" Autometer Phantom Boostand Electric Fuel Pressure Guages,Kirban Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator,MSD 6BTM Ignition,Set of Blue FMS 9mm wires

whats the difference between the V-2 and v-1 strim?what do you think is a godd price for the above? what should i look for when shopping for a used supercharger? any advice would be greatly appreciated

I would probably go with a 30 lb/hr injector because the 24's are going to be closed to maxed out at 10 psi. Bolts are easy to get. The oil lines, I'm sure could be ordered from Vortech.

I wouldn't get a tuner kit for several reasons. One, they aren't made for our cars, so you would have to fab up the brackets for it. Two, you are very limited. You have a much better deal with this V1 and the limitations are nearly endless.

ok slight problem, i saved up the funds for it and now i got second doubts. i just got done telling my dad that i spent close to $2k in bolt ons and that only made me a sec quicker, with the super charger ill get much more bang for the buck. he says sure youll get more power but your engine cant handle the boost. how long could i last with 30 pnd injectors and 8 boost? i had to work many many hours for this car and i would really hate to see it go.

Down in Florida where you are, you could get a dyno tune by a very reputable shop. That is going to be the key for the engine lasting. So save yourself about 500 more dollars so you can get a 3 program flip chip. What that will do is allow you to tune car with 3 different settings, say an aggressive, a mild, and an even milder tune. The weakest tune could be run on the street which would have a higher fuel pressure and less timing (very safe). And you could have an agressive tune programed for the track which would run the car on ragged edges for maximum power. Don't worry about it - just don't put your foot in it too much before you get it tuned :D. How many miles are on the car? I would do a compression test before buying anything to make sure that all cylinders are in good standing and there are no ring or compression problems.

running 8 PSI of boost with a safe tune you shouldent have anything to worry about. Its not to much boost for the motor to handel w/ out falling apart. Look at it this way, say you do all the bolt ons ...heads, full exhaust, cam, Intake, pullies, bigger MAF..exc exc... you will be able to push a 5.0 motor to about 300 RWHP. If you were to bolt on a S/C right now and was pushing 8PSI with your mods you currently have then you shouldet see anything over 350 to your wheels , thats only 50 RWPH more then what you would do w/ out putting a blower on the car so you well within specs the danger zone for damaging the block as long as its tuned right.
