Going to drag race the Stang Friday. I have never taken it to the track before. I have done some *gasp* street racing with it, but not anything serious. I can drive a stick pretty good, but I am not perfect.

It will be at normal street weight, 3400 with driver (I am 225lbs)
tires will be my normal cooper zeon 275/40/17's, will air down to 22psi if needed.
I will be rolling out and standing on it, lift shifting at 5500.
Going to add some timing and run 93 sunoco for fuel.

I am hoping for low 13's, but if i make mid 13's I will be happy.

You'll run 14.1X-14.2X with traction issues is my prediction.

Be careful with air pressure in those street tires. Leave the air pressure stock, skip the water box and skip the big burn out. Clean them off with a quick 2-3 second spin on dry pavement and ride the clutch out of the hole.

Sure...but since is your first time with it at the track, don't bet on it. I've seen a lot of hearts broken and dreams shattered by the clocks at the track. Just because you've got the power, doesn't mean you're going to get it to the ground effectively. Unless you’re able to cut sub 2.0 60ft times, your dreams of 13-second ET’s are going to be slightly out of your reach is my prediction.

Consider this trip your learning experience. Save up for a set of drag radials for your second.

What he said ^^^

It ain't as easy as it looks to get good times on street tires unless you are making a chitload of power

hmm... I'm going to say 13.75@102. I think a mid 13 (even a low 13) is definitely possible with your setup. Depends on track conditions, tune, and driving.

Don't hope for a certain time you go to the track though. Go, and hope to get a good feel for the car, and to establish a baseline to make improvements.

id do the burn out in 2nd if you can... then keep them spinning ar you roll out of it. it will pick up the rubber off the track and help you a bit.

Thanks for the advice! I will give that a shot.

I also have a set of MT ET streets 275/60/15 that I am borrowing. I hope they fit. Might alleviate some of my traction issues. On the street the car won't hook until 3rd.

Well you have a decent setup under the hood, but I see a few weaknesses. One is the weight. Like a fat girl trying to race up a ladder, she might be strong enough, but she's got some serious payload to take there. Heavy wheels are like heavy shoes, they take a lot to get moving. Traction with a combination of those tires on a low profile is going to really hold you back off the line.

You'll have some mph but you might not be too happy with the ET. It has potential, but it's got a ways to go. Good luck.

Where are you going to race at? Norwalk or somewhere in Michigan? I only ask because I live 25 miles north of you? Good luck, have fun and be safe!

I say 14ish first run, then low to mid 13s as long everything holds together. Best of the night 12.80ish if you hook . Have fun, be safe.
