IM wanting 300+ horses out of my 99gt. I'M putting on a o/r H pipe and weld on flows. Have a K&N filter now. I'M looking at getting a mach 1 hood and scoop, Underdrive pulleys, accufab and 75mm TB .I drive this car 500 miles a week and still need a little mileage and dependability. what else do I need to get 300?
Sorry about the stupid questions but im an old school drag racer. im use to big block chevys that are very easy to get 500 out of but with 5 MPG.

R u looking for 300 flywheel or rear-wheel hp? Cus there's a big difference as you probably already know. At the flywheel isn't hard with just boltons, but at the wheels is gonna take more than the bolt-ons can provide. I'm not to knowledgable on the modular motors though, so maybe someone else can give you more info.

hmmmm, I think he means rwhp... and yeah, cams and... hmmmm, who on stangnet makes 300-320 with a GT?

-edit- oops, nevermind, flywheel is way easier. Your not that far right now... Get all the cheesy bolt-ons.

Well, he just said flywheel, so a full exhaust alone should get you pretty close.

Usually like 15% or so, more with an auto. Ummm......... as for the exhaust getting you close, they dynoed a 4V before and after full exhaust and it gained 23 rwhp. That was LT's o/r x-pipe and some catback. So that was maybe 30 at the flywheel? I wouldnt think it would be as much with a 2V, so it would help out tremendously no doubt, but you'll still need quite a few bolt-ons.

Well a bone stock 05 AUTO just dynoed more than a Mach 1, so you're going to need a lot more than 300fwhp

well that's pretty easy. i dyno'd 255rwhp, that's around 300 with 15% manual tranny loss.

$1500 in mods.

When my car was n/a, I had a catted x pipe, dynomax cat back, ud pullies, 3.73 gears and a eec reflash that put me right where you want to be. Cost me about $2300 but that included a dyno tune.

Out of curiosity, I know the gears had nothing to do with increasing the hp, but I believe neither do the ud pullies. Don't they just free up more of what was there already?

I have 290hp at the rear wheels which is fairly close. I think a slightly better tune might push it closer. It can be done, and wherever the $3000 price tag comes from in the post above is a bit off.

Mine would be easily over 300 if I had some headwork to go along with the cams. Another cheaper thing would be an electric water pump for about $325. There have been guys pick up about 7-8hp with them on Modular Depot from the loss of parasitic drag on the belt.

Basically I have:

Cams and Springs $700
Headers $300
O/R X pipe $150
Catback $300
Pullies $100 (used)
Upper Plenum $170
CAI $200 (not needed)
75mm TB ($190)

$1910 invested in performance parts.
