I recall people talkin about a water pump bolt kit, but I cant remember where it came from. Maybe that jogs someone's memory though.

Good luck.

motormite stud kit 23744.
i've read that you might need two kits to get the two longest bolts though.

See http://totallystainless.net/totally.html for the bolts. Last time I checked, they didn't have the studs. Nice folks, very into cars of all types. They have all kinds of stainless fasteners for almost every car. The prices are very reasonable, less the $8 for the water pump kit without the studs.

The studs are a Motormite item available at your local Advance Discount auto Parts store.

Motormite Water Pump Stud Kits for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury cars and trucks w/3.8L, 4.6L, 5.0L, 5.8L.

any parts store should have em, or at least be able to order them. if they have stuff from dorman/motormite/help it can be obtained.

revivings a VERY old Thread.....

I have a problem, my motor got torn down last year, and I guess I wasn't as organzied as I thought, and I can't find me old water pump bolts. No biggie, I bought an ARP Bolt kit and the bolts that come in the kit for the water pump don't fit..... well, two do, the others are all a tad too long. I decided to buy the water pump stud kit, but I don't remember where they went.... anyone happen to have a diagram to show where the different bolts lengths go in the water pump? PLEASE? haha. Thanks

I'm in the process of making a diagram where all the WP bolts go but at this time I haven't finished it, so for right now this is the best I can do for you .

Water Pump Bolts:
Courtesy of Half-Fast

The quickest and easiest way to get the proper timing cover bolts and water pump bolts is to buy two kits from Totally Stainless.

Timing Chain Housing Kit 302 EFI 12 pt stainless. #6-0847
Water Pump Kit 302 EFI Through '93 12 pt stainless. #6-0931

The above are just bolts, no special studs for accessories

TotallyStainless.com does not sell a water pump kit for 94/95 5.0L.

If the prices above are a bit steep you can piece them together with the information below:

Autozone carries 3 of the odd sizes, which includes 2 studs and one long bolt.

http://www.autozone.com/selectedZip,.../selectZip.htm

The Autozone part number is 23744.

Bolt Dimensions for Autozone (Motormite Inc.) 23744 bolts:

Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Cars & Trucks 3.8L, 4.6L, 5.0L, & 5.8L. Includes 1 bolt and 2 studs.
Bolt Size: 5/16"-18 x 5",
Stud Size: 5/16"-18 x 3/8" x 16 x 5-3/8" and 5/16"-18 x 3/8"-16 x 3-7/16".

Torrie at Fast Parts Network - Home can get you many of the bolts.

More measurements of the water pump/timing cover bolts:

Here are some specs on the OEM fasteners, going clockwise looking at the
front of the engine, starting at the lower passenger side:

All threads are 5/16-18 pitch except for the stud portion of #6-9
which is 3/8-16

#1 Stud/Bolt, OAL 3-5/16, UHL 2.25
Bolt threaded 1", shank 1.25 (1 + 1.25 = 2.25" UHL)
Flange head .25", 5/16-18 stud thread = 13/16"
1 + 1.25 + .25 + 13/16 = 3-5/16" OAL
Drive size is 1/2"
Notes: This bolt/stud clamps the TCC to the block, retains the
timing tab,
and the stud retains the support bracket for the AIR pump,
accessory nut is 5/16-18, 1/2" drive (not a flange nut, but
could be)

#2 Stud/Bolt, OAL 3-1/16, UHL 2.25

1 + 1 + .25 + 13/16 = 3-1/16" OAL
Drive size is 1/2"
Notes: Same as #1, but the shank is .25" shorter. This bolt/stud
clamps the
TCC to the block, and retains the timing tab. Stud may be unused

#3 Bolt, OAL 4-1/16, UHL 3-7/8
Bolt threaded 1", shank 2-7/8 (1 + 2/7/8 = 3-7/8" UHL)

1 + 1-11/16 + 3/16 = 2-7/8" OAL
Drive size is 5/8"
Notes: Clamps water pump to TCC

#6 Stud/Bolt, OAL 3-7/16, UHL 1-15/16

Ford studs use 5/16” on the engine side and 3/8” studs on the accessory side.

Lowes Hardware:

One 5/16 x 5½ inch @ $.47, Item # 55819.
Six 5/16 x 2 inch @ $.16 each, Item # 63319.
Three 5/16 x 4 inch @ $.28 each, Item # 63322
One 5/16 x ? inch @ $. , Item # ?????

The last one I typed I don't have, yet. It should be 2-3/4 to 3 inches long. I bought a 2½ and not much of the threads go far enough into the timing cover. It's for the bolt hole that is between the two water ports on the upper left of the water pump. I'll have that info later tomorrow.

The bolts for the water pump pulley to be used without a belt-driven fan are 5/16 x 3/4 24-thread. The two rearmost cover bolts which bolt the cover to the block (not shown) are 5/16 x 3/4 inch. I am scavenging those from an ARP bolt kit that I have which can't be used with late model timing covers. Only a few from the kit could be used as the kit was designed for older model 289/302/351W timing covers.
