Is it possible for a 99GT to weigh 3200lbs from the factory...I mean bone stock, no removal of the snorkel. My friend says that his 99GT weighs less than my weight reduced 95GTS and he's making me mad. Anyone?
well, mine weighs 3880 w/ 1/4 take gas, and me (180). the GTs actual road weight was closer to 3400 on average, but the GTSs were much closer to about 3280 of the factory given weight. I just went to the local dump, and weighed it there, they are really nice, and just do it to be nice (so, just take him and venture on over to the local dump, and settle it once and for all )
My local dump doesnt have a big enough weighing pad for me to drive on. We measured ourselves at Englishtown raceway the last time we went and for some reason the scale came up as 3354 for him and 3440 for me. He's a small guy so he only weighs 120lbs, but thats extremely low for a 99GT so I think the scale is broken. I dont really think that my car should weight 3440 with me in it(180lbs) and an 1/8 of a tank. I didn't have any seats in the car other than the driver's seat and I've got other things that I removed off of the car. His car was complete and stock and somehow he weighs less than me. I dont get it.
Where are you guys getting that the new 99+ gt's weigh so little? What makes you think our GTS model which is the light version would weigh more? There is no 99+ gts model unless you are talking abouta cobra r or something, regardless the 99+ gt's weigh just as much if not a tad bit more than a regular 94-95 gt....so thats in the area of 3400lbs stock give or take...obviously verts weigh in more.
well, ernie, looks like we got the grunt stangs from the factory :rlguah: both are carrying a little too much "girth" than they should be
-and, I'd still say try to find any dump that can weigh your cars... those ones are really accurate when it comes to the weight you want to figure out...
i always thought the 99+ weighed more with the wider rear axel and wide engine. besides that the cars are identical in features, its not liek they used carbon fiber or fiberglass body panels.
