After doing a lot of research and trying to find out what is best for me and my application I have finally decided on a blower. Here goes and the "why" behind the decision. The Winner is..... Vortech YSi. And now the why. I really like the Kenne Bell but they are hampered by HP. The 1.7 can "only" support 680HP, the 2.2 "only" 850HP. The KB's both come really hard out of the hole but peter out by half track. The Novi 2000RR can support 900HP but is limited by it's boost capabilities. The turbo system I was looking at and could afford could only support 780HP. The Procharger P1SC was only capable of 800HP. The Vortech S-trim could only support 675HP. I looked further at Vortech becuase they have lots of options. I know a few Firebird owners with S-trims on their stock Birds from out at the track and they easily wipe my friend who has a Kenne Bell powered 04 GT. The Firebirds run 12.3-4 in the quarter where the Kenne Bell Gt only hit 12.9 once. The GT is totally stock except for the KB 1.7 Intercooled kit though. The Vortech YSi blower is a large HP blower in a small blower package. It can pump out 30 PSI, none of the above mentioned blowers can do that. The KB 2.2 drops out at 20PSI so does the Novi. The YSi can support 1200HP. Not that I could get to the level that any of the blowers are capable of, I just want the option. I'm doing a lower compression shortblock so boost will be my friend. I know everyone seems to like the KB but it is not the ultimate power pounder in my opinion. The YSi will eat the KB. The only problem with the centrifugal superchargers is that they create heat. The aftercooler of the Vortech should help that out. Anybody that is looking for a blower I would seriously look at 1 of these. They have tremendous potential. We'll see if I change my mind before I buy it. I called 3 different speed shops to ask their opinions and all said centrifigul made more power than the KB's. Some suggested turbos as the best power maker but I didn't want to pay the prices they were asking for them. There you have it. My logic behind what blower to get.
Then I just have to sit and wait for the snow to go away!!!! Then the fun will begin. Good luck with your project hope it makes the number you're looking for.
