I see the same here, with the same cars all around. You can go to a different show each each day of the week in the spring-fall months and see half the same cars at each. The big Mustang show here at Ford HQ got nearly 700 cars last year. For a one-day event, that's amazing.

Back when I was in the Northeast, I did an annual 3.5 hour trip to NJ and 2 hour trip to NH for FFW, did 3 5-7 hour trips to PA for NMRA, and similar stuff because that was all there was for big Mustang events. And, sad as it may seem, the number of cars in attendance in the shows were put to shame by the 3x-per-year Mustang shows at Mustangs Unlimited which was under 40 minutes away. That's a huge undertaking for many to spend that much on gas money for a trip when they have a gas hog, and the time involved for a 2-day event (plus hotel costs, etc.). Many of us still did it, but after a while it gets old. Still, we did it. But also after a while you start to see disinterest in car attendance at the events, changes in the ways the shows were held, lack of racing participants making for awful race spectating, etc. With that, people stop wanting to invest so much time and money to go to a crapshoot. If it's local, that's different, but when it's not it's another story all together. Back in the Northeast, if I didn't go to those shows I was stuck w/the M.U. shows if I wanted a good Ford show. Let's just say those were run by an infamous club who saw the show's attendance drop nearly 50% in a matter of a few years likely because people were fed up with it all. At least that's what many people I knew said. Seems over the past few years after I stopped going to them, they picked up a bit. That's nice to see but I doubt anything changed except the influx of new people w/new Mustangs and a more popular scene overall. Anyway, out here in Detroit, I can throw a rock and hit 5 cars hows. The quality of cars is never lacking, unlike back home where every goddamn cruise night seemed like a Billy Bob BBQ Party where nobody cared about anything except old ratty Mullet Mobiles and Corvettes. I would sooner drive through rain (and I did) on that 7-hour trip to NMRA in PA than drive 10 minutes and spend the night at that one of those bull events with all the hicks. Here, there's just everything everywhere and I've come to not have a want or need to go elsewhere.

Regarding the popularity of the guys on SEFB setting up FFW, NMRA, etc. trips, again I say it just comes down to numbers. How many of those guys were on Stangnet? Let's say 50% of them for a conservative guess. 100% of them are still on their own local site. The people here are so spread throughout the country that it makes about zero sense to stay in touch for local reasons. I know years ago we had a 'big' meet-up of some people who didn't know each other, at one of those shows at Mustangs Unlimited. I think 3 showed up.

On another note, and I'm sure this can relate to other specific interests, but you have sites like foureyedpride that all the 4-eye fans go to. Here, the topics on them are so minimal that it again almost makes zero sense to keep checking here daily/weekly to see if anything pops up in regards to them. Sure half of that can be blamed on those people themselves for not starting such threads in the first place, but some people just like to tether themselves into conversations

I am not much for going to car shows as nothing really happens. I take a walk around look at all of the same thing as that guy over there, except maybe different, yak it up with a few people, get bored and go home. I have much more fun going to events where people actually do something with the cars, say like a drag race. In fact my friend Walter and I are towing his Kenne Bell powered Convertible down to Las Vegas in Oct. for a big 8.5" tire shootout. I am really looking forward to that.
I do go to the one big Ford Roundup at BCC (Bellevue Community Collage) in July every year. It is a Nationally Judged Shelby/Mustang event and usually over 300 Ford vehicles of all types and years show up. I just may take my 66' T-Bird this year. But as far as going to a cruise in or car show every other weekend, meh.......it just ain't happening.

This site is still one of my all time favorites. I only have two currently running Foxes, and the 82 has taken a back seat to work, family and the Chevelle. Evidence is my once new 08 Bullitt now having 70k miles! But the 82 is working its way up the list for attention. This site is great, you can come here for Ford stuff, Mustang stuff, relationship stuff, just to vent, and for even gun stuff.
We have Jrichker, who should be listed as a national treasure. I have been to a dozen or more FFW's and raced the Foxes at Gainesville, Atlanta, Savannah, Bradenton, Mobile and Gulfport. Unfortunately it has only run once in the past year.

This is still the best place to get a question answered, and I still try to help when my old, carbed brain can!

Thanks for the video, but I wasn't challenging you to prove that you have a car. (that was a metaphoric wise crack) Although the walk around does more than a picture will ever do. The fragmentation I am talking about is how we are all pieces of a whole. So far apart, from so may places, that none of us will never be a group other than this forum.

Many years ago a bunch of us from 5.0 Talk section organized a little get together and cruise. We had about 8 cars maybe; met up @ a local Wawa, hung out, cruised to Seaside, grabbed some food, then cruised around for a little while.

This was in the days of Joe/boostedstang; and he got pulled over on the cruise for doing a 500+rwhp clutch dump in front of a cop. It was honestly one of the most hilarious things I had seen up to that point.

Tower Shoppes is down the street from you (University Drive & 595). There are a ton of Mustang there. Hell we did a Stangnet Mustang Meet there a few years ago and like 13 Stangnet guys met up. We went for beers and dinner afterwards. I still hang with a few I met there that night.

Mike - I'll be at Mustang Week for sure. And just some ideas for everyone else.

CJ Pony Parts had a great 'Customer Appreciation Day' show last year and will have another this year Saturday August 11th.

National Parts Depot had over a THOUSAND Fords at their last All Fords Show in Ocala (happens every January and is held in an amazing park down in FL).

Then you have Fabulous Fords Forever held yearly in Anaheim, Ca. end of April.

And of course, Ford Carlisle in PA every spring.

My vote is to support the companies that support the industry. I know Brothers Performance, Latemodel Restoration, American Muscle, and many more have car shows each year in all different parts of the country and always have a great turn outs!

I'm planning on being at both the CJ's and AM customer appreciation days this year... a lot of it just depends on the work schedule.

I know I'm still new to this forum, but I make the 380 mile journey to Carlisle every year. I grew up in Md, and remember going to the events sense I was about 10 years old. Every year about 5 of my friends and I make a hell of a weekend out of it. If I knew some of you guys were there I would have deff seeked you out to be able to actually meet in person!

And to add, The large regional, or national events are not just "car shows". All anyone has to do is look at MW's itinerary for the planned events, and you'll find it's so much more. There is of course a day dedicated to the show, but different race/contest events were planned as well. Proactive, well attended "clubs" are planning there own gatherings and events inside of the main one. I'll get there mid Thurs,....that night is slotted for a trip to Darlington for drag racing.
Now I don't plan to go to the drag strip, as I do not intend to strand myself that far away w/ a broken part, but I do intend to do some "drag-drinking" to show my support.

I tinker/drive my junk for my own enjoyment, never really been too worried or interested in being a part of a club or going to car shows. I'd certainly love to get on the power tour, but again I'd likely go with a couple friends instead of worrying about being a part of an "official" club.
