What a difference 3 tie wraps make.

While installing my bullit pedals last week I saw first hand just how much slack our Stangs come with on the accelerator pedal.

Neatly put three small tie wraps just before the end of the accelerator cable picking up about 90% of the slack. What a difference in pedal feel. There is no play now. I am convinced I was not hitting full WOT before as now when I do the engine definately screams louder.

Nothing new in the world of Mustang mods, but just thought I would share.

I cant visualize where you put the tie wraps care to take a picture or two?

Here is a pic of the Tie Wraps I used. You can see how small they are in my hands. Once you have wrapped them and cut off the excess, they are extremely small. Work good for this mod I think.

If you get a larger tie wrap like others have then I would imagine you would only need one, possibly two.

i thought there were some negitive side effects to this mod at one point? i cant remember what they were. i just remember wanting to do the mod as it sounded like a good idea but then reading some bad things about it.

Hmmm.... I haven't come across those. I never intended to do this small mod until I actually had to get under there for the Bullitt pedals and saw for myself the amount of slack. Just stupid...

With the 3 small tie wraps the pedal is now about 80 - 90% more even with the brake pedal, but not exactly all the way up and even like they say to do on the MW write up. I didn't want to put it all the way up as I imagine that with enough force you could possibly break the accelerator cable. I've never heard of this though.

It seems like now when I floor it (Back of pedal bar hitting carpet) it is exactly WOT. And during regular driving it is much more comfortable as it takes less effort to accelerate as you don't have to push so far down to get a response which is nice for stick shift cars.

Worse comes to worse you can always just cut the tie wraps off. Or maybe you could get a stronger accelerator cable to replace the stock one if your concerned about that part. Now that I think of it I might look into that.
