What are the biggest Wheels/Tires I can put on my 95 GT

Hey everyone,

Greg here. New to the Mustang world. Been wanting one for years and came across a 95 GT in 95% condition and I just had to buy it.

What I want to do is put some new wheels and tires on it but before I do, I figured I'd ask you all here since you guys will definitely have the answer..

Question is, What are the biggest Wheels/Tires I can put on my 95 GT without having wheel rub, etc?

Any and all comments will be appreciated. I'll try to get some pics up pretty soon.

Hi welcome!

You can go with a 10.5 rim and a 315/35/17 tire. I have this combo with no rubbing, and no modification. Most people have to swap/remove their quad shocks though...

Also,

Wouldn't 10.5 be too wide for the front? Wouldn't I have to go with a 9" up front.....

well, it depends on what you want your turning radius to be. with 03/04 cobra wheels (9.5" wide) it rubs against the swaybar, so technically 10.5's could fit, but it would rub like crazy. stick with 9" in front

Does anyone know if you can still run your exhaust out the back with 315's in the back. I was lookin at yours low-5.0 and it didnt look like it left much room for the exhaust to run if you wanted too. Thanx.

A friend of mine is running 3" tailpipes with 3.5" tips and 315/35 Nitto DR's. The driver side on mine has plenty of room, but the pass. side is very tight. I'll be working under there sometime later this week, I can get some measurements then.

I have 17x11 TTII's with 315/35/17 tires in the rear with 17x9 TTII's and 275/40/17s in front. The 275's in front are a hair too wide IMHO but not rubbing wide, just my taste and will be going to a 265 or 255 when replaced.

I have 2.5 tails and "had" flipped quads (had since I removed them when adding aftermarket LCA's) with only very slight rubbing when going uphill while turning at a funky angle.

That would be the quad shock everyone is talking about flipping. They are a 50/50 shock and one end is fat while the other is skinny. You flip them to clear the wheel/tire.

I put 315's and I never had to do anything to clear except bent a e-brake cable braket cause it was hitting a weight on the back of the wheel.

Depending on tire BRAND (some are wider) ... you may or may not have to flip the quad shocks. No big deal if you do. I did have to flip mine. Took all of 10 minutes.

I was told when I bought my 10.5's for the back that if the car was lowered more than 1.5 or 2 inches in the rear then you would have to flip the quad shock. I still have the 275/40's on them though- not a wide enough tire for the wheel

I just picked up some 295/30/18s for my rear... a friend has them on his Roush no problem... however I'm looking at either a replica roush, or something different... 18x10 (rear) 18x9 (front)... Low-5.0 and BLKSN, what is the offset of those rims? (trying to do some shopping, but it's not easy)

The tires are Yokohama Avis.

Do you have any side shots of them? All I'm really looking for is a set of 18" rims that are a wide 5-star design... like the roush, but not $1800 for a set...
