vert? coupe? Those E7's and the stock cam are REALLY gonna restrict you. I hate to say it, but I do NOT think you are gonna hit 12's with the factory heads/cam without NOS or a power adder. Generally it takes at least a h/c/i package to hit 12's (if you're going N/A) or else a blower or turbo. Generally............

Am I the only one who wonders .............

What is your best

sixty foot
mph
et

I mean after all, I've seen peeps who have every hot rod part known to man running mid thirteen's. You look at his sixty foot and see like a 2.4, he has his car lowered, and a whole bunch of those auto cross parts.

The best I got out of my ported stock heads , Typhoon intake, F-cam, full exhaust, and pullies was a 13.4 at 104 with a 1.63 60'. Like the others said we need to know what you are running and the current combination you have.

At the time I had eibach sportlines which was too low for me.

What tires do you plan to run on? What suspension mods do you have? What is the track elevation? Have you ever drag raced before? What does the car weigh? What size wheels are you running on?

There a TON of factors here that will ultimately determine what you can run. If you have only what you listed above and haven't drag raced before, you will need a good bit more in terms of parts to hit 12's.

Check out John "JackieChan", new to 94-95 but he ran 12.9's at 103+ in his modular , that is all you need given the right conditions and good driving.
Practice and traction is the formula !!!!

It will take a lot more than you think. Like Paul said, it will take all of that and then some to hit 12s with stock heads.

NMRA factory stock racers are running 11's with stock heads and cam. But they're lightened up a little bit, have higher compression and a alot of good suspension work.

I'm sorry, but even when ported, E7's just don't flow very well from what I've heard. That combined with the stock cam, I just don't see it happening. Basically all he has is exhaust, gears, and an intake. I didn't see any suspension in his list of parts, and that is definitely gonna be needed to run any kind of quick 60's.

I think you will need a mild cam added to the mix, along with excellent conditions and traction for a shot at it.

You gotta be really careful when talkin about et's as the driver has so very much to do with the time.

Another thing that makes it hard to compare et's if you wanna compare combo parts is the ability of the car to sixty foot.

If it won't sixty foot very well, even the best driving skills can do only so much.

The above examples and more are the reason the various members are being cautious about how they answer your Q's.

Or in Other Words

It depends all upon .......................

stock suspension and slicks and you are going to need about 230rwhp @ 3200lbs to squeak in with a killer 60' and drive the piss out of it

Again like I stated above PRACTICE(that would be the driver thing) and traction, John did it on stock suspension, but like myself he was at the track about every week.

hmmm this subject is always interesting to me. I live in Southern Maryland which is about 5 miles from whats supposed to be the worlds quickest 1/4 mile. Our air is awesome and that makes a huge difference for e.t.'s. For example my 95 5 speed Coupe with a Short Throw Shifter, 4:10's, Pullies, X-Pipe, CAI, GT-40 Intake, BBK 70MM Throttle Body and 285/40/17 BFG Drag Radials has been 13.63 @ 101 with a 1.90 60 foot. My car is slammed....the suspension is horrible. The car wont hook if unless i slip the hell out of the clutch...so my 60 foots could greatly improve if the car would hook dumping it. and im going through the traps around 5700 in 4th which IMO is too High of a Trap RPM. I am shooting for 12's on Stock H/C myself. I still Have stock headers, cat-back, Mass air sensor, suspension needs great work and I just mounted 15" Welds on the car with 265/50/15 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials. The car should hook now but I have yet to run with the 15's and skinnys up front. I am predicting around a 13.45-13.50. to be modest. That means roughly 4 Tenths and im in the 12's. I think it can be done. My race weight is also like 3450 Minus driver...my car is loaded. Weight reduction might also help me get there but I think it CAN be done....especially with ported heads.

He could do it.

MASSIVE weight reduction and sticky tires, combined with his gear could get him into the 12s.
