Hi guys, I have about 1000 dollars to spend. I think I need a transmission soon. I'd like to upgrade my T-5. I need it to go behind my stroker that I will be building over the next few years as well. The stroker will have about 350 - 375 rwhp (hopefully). Those are optimistic numbers. Also, as this car is street driven and highway driven everyday in the summer, I'd like it to have a low over drive ratio. Any suggestions?

For 1500 you can probably rebuild your t5 using the gforce upgrade kit yourself. Otherwise getting a new tranny like the TKO500/600 includes new clutch, bellhousing and crossmember. That will probably run you in the area upwards of 2000 dollars. You can probably pick up a used tranny with all that stuff for about 1500-2000 dollars though. There aren't many cheap options as far as transmissions go...

Option #1:Put that money in the bank until you can move up to the TKO line (if you're serious about the replacement or hard driving.) You're like $500.00 away from a T-56 (for fun) or a TKO500. Also don't forget to tack on the obligitory extra $500.00 for anything that is forgotten durring said upgrade.

Option #2: Get a new T-5 from FRPP for $1200 and bolt it right in. (Just don't go racing and it'll last forever)
