I'm thinking about buying a new edge cobra and am wondering what to expect to run as far as gas goes. I'm coming off a foxbody that would run on anything :) so I don't know what to expect.

Do you guy run 93 or 89 or the cheap stuff 87(I like the last one)?

Run the minimum octane necessary to prevent knock. If the car is designed to run on 87 octance then that's what you need to put in it. Putting in a higher octane than recommended or necessary will not make any difference at all as far as power is concerned and may even hurt performance.

That is what I've always heard. I didn't know if Ford recommends a specific octane in the cobras (specifically 99 and 01).

I know Ford recommends 91 octane for the Cobra's, but don't the pre-03/04 Cobra's have knock sensors to retard timing in case there's detonation?

Bottom line is to use the recommended octane rating set by the manufacturer for your model car UNLESS its been modified.

99 octane, premium UK fuel. darent put anything else in it, as our standard 95 octane is crap

You guys must have a different method for determining octane ratings? Here in the U.S. we use the R+M/2 method. I'll bet in the U.K. they use only the R (RON) rating which is higher than M (MON). In the U.S. we add the two ratings together and then devide by two to get the overall octane rating.

Octane booster is WORTHLESS! Stop wasting your money.

Friend of mine was doing a promotional thing for NOS brand octane booster and gave me a case for free so I figured id give it a go  Car idles a little smoother and dosent pop when reved so it seems to be doing something.

Yup, street formula. Ive never bought octane booster before but for free I figured why not. I dont see any mpg increase or any SOTP performance increase, just when the car is at 600rpm idle its smoother and when its not in gear and I rev it it doesnt pop anymore when the rpms are going back down. Couldnt justify $10 extra per tank so when im out im out. I would like to get a barrel of Sunco and mix it with the pump gas and see what happens but that will be after I get my KB twin screw.
