Okay I got the cobra intake manifold on and it give me a little more of the top end that I needed. I have been planning on doing the heads and cam forever. But I don't know if I should do the tanny first. I would like to do a rebuild with the Art Carr or level ten stuff. I would also get a transbrake and higher stall converter. If I do the converter first I would want to know what cam I would get in the future so I would be in my power band. I don't know if that really matters or not. Or should I work on traction(control arms, tires, etc)? What do you guys think I should do next?

I say save up for your heads and cam. Maybe get some subframe connectors? It is a cheap mod that will help you launch better.

With a C4, you lose overdrive. The C4's overdrive is 1:1, which is your current transmission's 3rd gear. A built C4 can be had for less than half of a built AODE, but like I said, you lose OD. With that being said, you NEED a torque converter before everything else. A good street/strip stall speed would be anywhere between a 2800-3200 RPM. Torque converters help absorb some more of the power that the stock AODE and torque converter loose. PM RC, he dynoed his car before and after the torque converter with no other mods and reported something like a 10% gain over stock. You are never going to know the car's true potential until you put an aftermarket torque converter in it.

That's why I didnt want to do the heads and cam first. I think I should work on tanny and traction first then start making some more power. What torque converter should I get? I know that PI make the best. But I don't know if I will end up spending that much. What some other good ones that go for a little less. I don't want anything like B&M or TCI. I havent heard anything good about them.

Go with the PI. They are expensive, but they offer some type of deal that you can change stall speeds within a certain amount of time for free. So when you get the heads and cam, you can up the stall speed for a little more performance.

I would do your tranny BEFORE heads and cam.
PI is REALLY the way to go, but if you MUST stray from that, then Art Carr or PA (performance automatic) will be fine too.

Never mine about the PI website, I need the PA website. And what are the prices of the PI, Art Carr and the PA. Joe said I would need a stall around 2800-3200. Does level ten make a TC?

http://www.performanceautomatic.com/

I was at 189HP/249TQ with stock tranny stuff, pulleys, headers, xpipe, flow, gears, and K&N.

They slapped the converter on, and the car dynoed 203/278.

That is about 7% gain in HP with just the TQ. 2 points:

1. if you figure the AODE has about 8-10% more loss to the wheels than a 5-speed, then you almost get that amount back.

2. The Converter was stalled by them assuming I ALREADY had the Vortech, which I had them do b/c the Vortech was coming a month later. If the Stallion was stalled correctly at the time of the dyno, it would have been a little better.

The FEEL afterwards was undescribable.

That's it.

Waiting to do an Art Carr rebuild this spring/summer.

Input shaft
Rebuild kit
Diode Kit.

about $700 for the parts, and I have a shop that will do it for $450.

Does that come with a transbrake or manual valve body? And the only other thing is I might have to try to do it myself. I don't know if I can find a shop that I trust good enough.
