I went into the garage 2 nights ago an smelled gas, sure enough, the gas tank was starting to leak....I figured that if I'm gonna drop the tank to replace it, might as well change the fuel pump while it's out. I run a stock motor with ported e7's and edelbrock intake an was wondering if a 155lph is too much...i might add a 75 hp dry shot or some day build a stroker....just dont wanna put in too much pump but have some room to grow in the future. thanks for any advise.

You can't really get too much fuel pump unless you are talking about the $$$ expense.

The regulator takes care of extra pressure and the return line takes car of extra flow.

Here are some recommendations that I worked out according to formulas I found in Four Stroke Tuning. Running at 80% of plump capacity helps ensure a long life from the pump.

_____________________80% of Max______80% of Max

Ford EFI Options_______N/A Limit________Boost Limit
110 lph________________240 hp__________200 hp
155 lph________________340 hp__________280 hp
190 lph________________420 hp__________340 hp
255 lph________________560 hp__________460 hp

hope it helps

I've had a 255 in mine for over a year now, works flawlessly, kinda noisy before I did the head swap now the exhaust drowns the fuel pump drone out

I went 190lph fuel pump - no regrets. I prefer "less heat" from the pumps when fuel gets low...and I didn't have a need or plan on a need for any bigger than that.

155lph is not to big for you. Neither is 190 or 255lph.

It's pretty much a crap shoot. What are your plans? Might as well get the biggest you can. Unless a stocker is dirt cheap. I live by the when in need of replacement, upgrade theory.

Agreed! If you have a aftermarket regulator, you can adjust the fuel pressure for what you need. You just have to fork out a little extra for a fuel pressure gauge and a regulator. Might be a good idea if you plan on adding power later on.

thanks for the input....looks like a 190 is a good compromise choice, some room to grow but more affordable than a 255

I made the same decision with the same reasoning several years ago. I was very happy with that decision for a long time. I remember there being a substantial price jump between the 190 and 255.

good luck

190 would be my choice too. Good call.

Glad to see this didn't turn into a gear thread: "Dont fear the 255 LPH"

David knows my thoughts on excessive overkill.
