What year were gt40 heads and gt40p heads on explorers??

I am wondering what year gt40 heads were on the explorers and what year gt40p heads were on explorers. Also are they that much better than the stock heads?? if I port and polish the stock heads would they do as well as the gt40s??

I'm not sure about when they started with GT40s on the Explorer (probably since the first V8 model?), but they went to GT40Ps in mid '97. Ported and polished stockers would fall short against some GT40s or Ps that were also ported, but they can be made to flow pretty decent.

I think 96 was the first year of the GT40s, late 97/98 GT40 p's. All the way up to 2000 I think 5.0s were made. Stock GT40s>Ported E7's. Dont waste money on those E7s
