Has anyone topped out their stang with 4.10s? whats the fastest everyone has gone and what was your RPM at?

The reason i am asking is that I ordered the gears and their in waiting for me to get back from overseaas. However, i am going to italy in september for 3 years and i am taking my car with me. What i am worried about is weather or not i will regret having them because of how they may limit my top cruising speed. I plan on cruising the autostrade quite often.

Anyway, i just wanted to see what the RPMs would be at higher speeds
Thanks!

MMmmmmm.... I forget what my RPMs were, maybe upper 3ks? 4 grand? But I was going around 125mph. Didnt want to try to top it out though. I've heard it tops out theoretically at 200, but in reality, 160. Dunno.

4.10's w/manual = 150 mph at 5000 rpms. I've hit 5200 rpm twice. That's 158.086 with my 285/40/17 rear tires.

your theoretical top speed at 6000 is around 166mph in 5th. and you don't have enough HP to make it there.

for cruising purposes i took these pics with my 4.1's

I don't have 4:10's but Just by looking at that last picture (80 mph at 3,200rpm), It doesn't seem like theres any way you are going to get to 150 with just 3,000 rpm left to go. I'd say around 125 top speed plus or minus a few mph , but hey im just guessing.

brush up on your math junior.
http://www.corral.net/tech/

my 4th gear wraps to 110mph, how far more will a .68 overdrive gear go beyond that?

110mph @ 6000 RPM in 4th (1:1 ratio) = (?)mph @ 6000 in 5th (.68:1 ratio)
since 6000rpm is on both sides of the = sign we can cancel them out.

110 x 1 = .68 x (mph)
anything multiplied by 1 is always it's self, so we can take that from the equation.

110 = .68 x (mph)
and to solve, get the variable alone by dividing .68 from both sides.

110 / .68 = 161.7mph

my tires are 225/50/16 slightly smaller than stock and the 6000rpm speed isn't dead nuts 110 could be between 109-111, in any case the math is correct.

If i have an auto gt and i get the 4.10s put in, will my rpms on the highway be different from yours since you have a 5 spd? Just curious.

Your rpms in a auto will higher do to the overdrive gear ratio being a tad taller. Something around .72 or so while the 5spd is .68 (T45) or .62 (T3650)
