Wheel Adapter Problems!!!!

Ok, bought some wheel adapters for my new Bullit wheels and they don't quite fit!:bang:

They're 5 on 4.5" but I can't get a socket in the hole to tighten more than one up. If I tighten one down then others won't line up correctly to let the socket fit!!!

I'm quite confuzed... If you guys need pics I'll see, but it's dark so no promises.

You might have a socket that's too thick. I seen that more than once. You have to tighten them equally. If you tighten one before the others, it won't line up. Just put them all the way down by hand without tightening. Then you just kinda wiggle the adapter as you tighten by hand. Once they are all seated, you should be able to tighten them pretty easy.

How do you tell if it's a thin wall socket or not?? I bought a 13/16 socket today from Napa and I really don't see how the wall could be any thinner with out breaking???

To clarify, the socket fits in all the holes individually, even with a nut in there. It's just once any of the nuts have been snugged up, the socket can't fit in the other holes with a nut inplace. It seems that the holes are off center at that point, regardless of how I try it.

Well here's another thing to try....

Stick a socket on 2 nuts at the same time.
Finger tight all 5.
hold a socket on 1 while you tighten the one across the hub from it. If you have a simple problem of loosing center, this will keep it in place.

Ok, well I'll try that this afternoon when I get home. If it's a 'No-Go' then I'll post pics of my exact problem.

I did try putting three on at a time. Hand tightened one then got the next one in the star pattern. After that I couldn't fit the socket anymore. I swear I'd think I was doing something wrong!!!

I think I might grind the socket walls thinner and see what happens.

How are you sure that you got the right pattern? Is it stamped anywhere on the adapter? Mine says "5450" on it, which means 5 x 4.50. Did you try bolting the adapter to another adapter? If it fits there but not your car then you might have the wrong pattern.

Well guys, I'll be honest I didn't expect this answer....

I called the supplier and after about 15 minutes on the phone the guy asked what size socket I was using. When I told him a 13/16" thin wall he told I was using the wrong socket. Said I should be using a 3/4"... Of course, 3/4" won't fit on the damn nuts!!! Turns out they sent the wrong lug nuts and are now giving me a credit for the nuts and I'll just buy them locally.

HOPEFULLY this will solve the issue.
