wheel widening

Ok,

I have recently heard of this new way to get your rims wider. Seem cool especially when you only need the rears done.

But here is my question, has anyone done this, and how did it turn out. this guy I called in Socal called Eric Vaughn seems to be popular, hey a 80 wheel back-up right now.

Anyone know a Nocal guy? Or a guy who doesn't want to charge $250.00 bucks a pop?

might be cheaper to just get aftermarket wheels in the size u want....my 0.02

I agree it would be, but the problem is the wheels I have, and like don't come in 10.5"

I know what you mean. I have yet to find my wheels in a 10" or 10.5" size. I don't know too much about wheel widening. Do they just stretch your existing wheel or cut it in half and then weld it back together with a piece of steel in the middle? I find it hard to believe they would cut it but I guess if they did, they could polish everything up and make it look like nothing was done to the wheel. Can anyone enlighten me?

They cut the wheel and then weld in a new piece to make it wider. They cut the wheel behind where it mounts so that you dont see it. Basically the cut is behind the center of the wheel. But then you need to get a set of spacers...if you dont the offset will be off. I have the steeda ultralight 2's. They only come in 9" wides. So i am considering this,

Yes, the guy who I talked too took five minute to explain all the things they do to make the wheel strong and true, but lets not get sidetracked. Any one know a place that does this in Nocal, or better yet know who does it anywhere for less then 250 a wheel?
