When does it get Dangerous 400? 500?

To run a safe blower on a stock 05-08 mustang at what bost and at what hp does it go from a daily driver who is gonna get 100,000 out of the engine to see ya later lower end. So where is the safe zone with good hp Or do you feel on a stock motor FI is no good at all if you want longevity. Post you thoughts.

Keeping things under 450hp with conservative timing and A/F ratio levels seems to be the ticket with the new 3V's.

As with any engine though, one tank of bad (low octane) gas can make things go south in a hurry....hence the conservation tune part.

Some have pushed their cars to 500hp....the jury is still out though on how long most of these engine are going to last at those power levels. I'd be more worried about the automatic transmission (if so equipped) at that point.

on a stock motor, you dont want to go over 10 psi. after that you are looking at trouble. i have seen a 05 with 75000mi, it has had a saleen on it for about 50000 of those miles.

that good to hear 75,000 on the clock i guess the tune has a lot to do with it. so 8psi 415rwhp is good for the long haul.

Canned tune I'd say 400rwhp......dyno tune by a damn good '05-up tune man 500rwhp, but no insurance on that. Always,always use big name gasoline.

so it seems that staying under 430 is the safest bet. I think that with the right tune at 430 and under you will have power and reliability good for any street car.

Most say 450, but who the heck knows? I mean who has the weaker rods, me or you? The main thing is to make certain you have a real experienced tune guy and have it tuned on the dyno and street by him. If you do that then I'd say 450 is fairly safe at the wheels and 500 is still pushing it a bit. Try to stay at or under 10 lbs boost.

Also take into consideration a situation where you have a blower laying down some serious ponies (no pun intended ) and you rev that sucker to 6700 rpm's on 1/8 tank or less of fuel on a real cool, crisp night......BOOM!

Ya, i was doing about 60 on the highway, and w/ my auto i broke the tires pretty good on dry ground when i nailed her...Maybe the 9 lbs. of boost had somethin to do with it too though..

The stock fuel system is good for 450hp....being Ford makes a 400hp charger kit and still covers your warranty I'ld say that would be safe.

For a daily driver looking to put 100K on it, 400 RWHP is no slouch. That is around 135-150 RWHP over stock! If you're worried about the bottom end, why not upgrade that at the same time?

I just got my info packet from pro-charger yesterday and they have stock motors turning 600 hp on pump gas, some a little more. I wouldn't go that high myself. I'm looking at around 450 hp, as I want it to be reliable. However, they sure seemed confident that they could make big numbers on a stock motor with thier kits and tune.

thats a great point tommyroc they do cover the warranty up to 400. 400 hp tho no more bc they dont warranty the 500 hp one

I'm not sure what all is done with the internals of the new Roush P51A, but it will be over 510 HP and will have the full 3/36 warranty.
