When is a Cobra not a Cobra?

I own a 1995 Cobra Convertable.

So each time I touch something on my Cobra I wonder, am I not keeping true to it being a 'Cobra'?

Mostly this has been to my body kits. I've installed the Stalker side skirts+side scoops and a Stalker rear bumper. My hood is a heat extractor hood from Cervinis. I've yet to decide what I want for a front bumper. Also I switched out my 95 tail lights for the 98 style, my first Mustang was a 98 v6 and I fell in love with the tail lights. I had to put 5.0 badges on my car below the snakes since everyone kept thinking it was the 4.6! I'll upload some photos soon.

I love the look of my car, and under the style it's still a Cobra, so I don't feel wrong with my badges yet.

I mostly bought the Cobra over the GT becuase it was 'already modded pretty good', I figured it was a good start and would be most of the stuff I'd do to a GT anyway. I never thought back then about the Cobra 'click' so to say.

So what's going to far, if i haven't already? I haven't done much to the engine yet (exaust and gears mostly), but how far into upgrading the engine is going out of the Cobra line? When does to many mods make you no longer a Cobra?

Anyway, just bored and thought I'd post these questions. I always found it kind of funny how Cobra owners get upset about GT's putting on Cobra badges, but I've never heard any thoughts on what Cobra owners thought about a Cobra, not being a Cobra. :) Once we replace all our Cobra parts, it isn't much more then a modded GT anymore. :(

Hope I haven't gone too far! lol

I say build what you want, your not building it for everyone else, your building it for you. If you want to collect it and preserve it, then keep it stock, but if thats not the case there is nothing wrong with modifying. As far as badges on GT's or what ever it maybe, sure some will get upset but so what, do what you like, if you can't afford a cobra, build one and build it better!

Badges

While my car may have started out as a V6 it no longer is, but as for putting GT badge on it I havn't and won't, its not about the little badges on the side of the car its about whats under the hood, so F-um you bought it you own it, do what YOU want and let the rest of the world kiss your A$$. If all they have to bitch about is what you've done to YOUR car then they have far to much time on their hands

its understandable i limit myself from certain stuff maily because i want to keep it looking like a cobra.
My advice its your car do as you please cause the person who has to be happy with the car at the end of the day is you.

I intend on putting Cobra peices on my car, however, my 302 badges will remain even after I find the time/cash to build something bigger and badder

I can see how people get upset over cobra clones, but that won't stop me from making my car look better and run harder...

Just a quick, opportunistic question. What are you doing with the OE bumper cover and hood? :)

If it came from the factory as a Cobra, then it will always be a Cobra. The only thing stock on my Cobra is..................................... Umm I'll get back to you on that:nice:

If your worried about what it becomes after changing alot of parts, then do what others have done, and make up your own brand of Mustang: Saleen, Roush, Steeda, Shelby, ect.. they were all just Mustang's and Cobra's at one point in time.

Do what makes you happy in the end:flag:

Will

You guys should use this!

17x9 Cobra wheels seem to really make the car distinguished. Even V6 cars with those wheels seem like a much more badass ride if u guys know what i mean. Gives it that "sick car from the factory" look.
I think my car lost alot of its Cobraness when i switched to bullit wheels.
