Mike, I know when I did this I had to find similar year, make, model, options and mileage had to be close in either or both directions. I however did not need to show what they ended up selling for, or need vin numbers. I guess when you have a car like an old fox you really can have anything from a $500 hooptie to a $15,000 show car. It sounds to me like they will do anything in their power to give you book value.
Sorry about the misfortune, but trying to find a few close mileage, 88 GTs in CA that have sold recently is going to be near impossible!
