I'm swapping to a Fox TB style set up and cant decide on which Anderson Power pipe to get. One is $108 and the other is $232 the more expensive one goes in into the fender but other then the looks is it better go go w/ the more expensive pipe or not??

No-Brainer...

Get the air-intake out of the engine bay.

Question though: If that pipe is for a Fox, are the holes in the 94/95 in the same spot in the fender?

thats kinda the point of the thread lol... yeah I know the pipe in the fender is better as far as colder air.

Ok... you've lost me. You already know that the pipe out in the fenderwell is going to be better for air (although not mentioned above) and then something about looks being the only difference? So is your question then...

"Will the Fox Style N/A Power Pipe fit in your 94/95 if you remove the elbow spacer?"

I think that's what you're asking and if so... the answer is No. Not unmodified anyway. I run the 4 in version of that Power Pipe in my 86. Aside from what you see in the engine bay pic for the Fox, there's WHOLE lot of MAF and conical filter that you can't see. The opening in the fenderwell portion of that pipe is cut and angled specifically so that it's pointed to allow the filter and meter, the room to clear the "hump" over the wheel well. Even if you did manage to cut a hole is correct spot of your engine bay to pass the pipe through your fenderwell, the bend and opening would NOT be at the angle necessary for the rest of the parts to fit into your wheel well.

Are you dead set on swapping TBs?

I'm sure you've seen this one but thought to mention it just in case:

Aside from the length likely being incorrect for your app, I'd also think that you'd have to cut, reclock the opening, then re-weld the power pipe to make it work for you. I'm reasonably sure that the Fox version would be clocked too far down toward the ground for you to even fit an elbow in there.

One other footnote: To even get that thing into the Fox (the 4 inch at least) you have to widen that round hole pretty good, hold your tongue just right, rotate the pipe as you push to get it into postion. It's a failry exacting fit.

Yeah Im dead set on swapping TB. Im not going to compromise w/ the SN95 set up.

Its mostly a fitment issue as you stated, I know the in the fender pipe is better over all but I dont know of the whole thing will work on an SN95 set up or not.

I've never understood the attraction of the Fox TB setup. Would you please enlighten me.

I think it looks better and is less restrictive for air flow. Between the bend in the elbow just before the TB and the bends in the C&L tube I dont think I'm getting very good air flow into the intake. Plus it will be a nice experiment to see which set up works the best b/c I'll strap it back onto the dyno in the spring w/ a same size TB being used just a different set up.

have you called anderson and asked them? they are very helpful, they might know.

@toyman: its less bending in the piping. We've seen the same combos make 5-10 more HP on a fox than SN setup. instead of 2 45 degree bends you get 1 90 degree bend. less bends make for less restriction.

i sorta did a fox tb swap but just welded the holes in the upper plenum and redrilled for the sn95 tb. I did notice quite a bit of throttle response increase as well as allowing me to run nicer looking valve covers from a fox. also deleted the egr in the process. I made a bracket for the throttle cable which was much easier and cheaper than swapping the fox swap. i then made my own Cai which sorta mimics the power pipe but MUCH cheaper. only mine wasnt 4 inch its 3 inch which will really not do any good cause its still not a restriction cause its not smaller than the tb and maf itself. i can find some pics if needed

yeah post up some pics and anyone else. I looked into making my own CAI before and I probably will this time around too if I cant have the filter into the fender to begin with. Just some couplers and some PVC pipe and clamps is all that's really needed but Id still like to see some other set ups

yeah please post up some pics of that setup fastgtfairlane. Sounds like a cool alternative to the fox swap.

did the pics on the link work? i could have spent more time with it and made it look even better if i shaved the plastic casting off of the elbow and such but didnt have the time. im still happy with it now 2 years later. when the new engine is installed i will make anothe one that is better than this one.

Here's my set up. I just don't see where it gets much straighter than this.

I don't think bends in and of themselves are a restriction. There may be air flow turbulence issues but, again I can't see where 2 45* bends would be worse than 1 90* bend. Intuitively one would think just the opposite.
