which drag radial??

You act like the new ones are light years ahead of the old ones, its pretty much one more grove on each side. LOL Not what I would consider night a day difference.

There is a big difference. Also notice the flat area in the middle of the old ones it is huge. A lot of surface area for water to build up under. Then the side channnels on the new pattern connect the inner and outer groves also allowing for more water in the middle to find its way to outside of the tire. The side channels are also staggered allowing for even more water to be dispersed easier. So there is 3 improvements on the new design.

I have driven these tires at highway speeds in the rain several times and didn't spin out and wreck my car.

I have had this car since it's been new and it has a 146k on it. I have driven it in countless rain storms and I can honestly say that they are no worse than some of the regular street tires I have used. Hell I just went to Baltimore from Wv a 4 hour trip each way. It rained almost all the way back.

I do not think they are a great rain tire. But if there is decent amount of thread left on them and you don't drive it hard you can make it home safely if caught in the rain. There's been many people hydroplane and wreck these cars with regular street tires on them.

I've drove my car in prolly 20-30 rain storms too but the last one I didn't fair so good. Its like playing Russian Roulette and saying "I haven't been shot yet so I never will"

And sorry but saying a set of ANY DRs are as good as a good street tires is stupid and wrong. The only time that may be true is if the street tires are bald as hell.

my choices would go like this 1,3, then 2. Nittos from what i hear are ok on the track and a pretty good tire on the street cause they last longer than other drag radials. But if you want a track tire get either the mickey thompson or the bfg.

No the new one actually work in the rain and they have done as well as some non DR's I have ran. That does not mean I think they are good rain tires. or you should race with them in the rain. There are hundreds of tires that are better. But you shouldn't chit your pants every time it starts to sprinkle a little. Just practice extra caution.

I'll tell one you thing they are better than the stock Goodyear Gatorbacks. If there is an effective way to disperse water the softer rubber compound has nothing to do with the hydroplaning. The old ones are worse, the new ones have a marked improvement but you still need to becareful.

If it makes you feel better to think I'm just lucky then so be it. I'm done with this no more need to argue..

I cant vouch for MT's, because I have never owned them. However, running nittos is in by no means gambling with your life, or car. Know the weather, know how much tread is on the tires, and use your common sense. I proboly have over 60 thousand miles on drag radials, Ive gone through 7-8 sets of them, so I think that makes me qualified to post on this subject. Do I have a blower, No, but blower or not, you need to use caution with any vechicle in the rain. Also, its seems like SOME people with blowers, high hp cars turn into gods on this site and somehow it makes their experience better than others. Lets keep it civil, its the holidays.

it's getting heated up in here...i'm thinking about buying the new MTs just for track and rare street use...and have my old bfgs for daily driving

thats by far the smartest move. Im not advocating what is the better option, because obviously that is, however, from your earlier stated original post, it seemed like wanted traction on the street and were set on getting drag radials for the street.
