I had a flex fan in my car for years and I doubt that's whats cause your car to run hot. It doesn't have a clucth to out. I would check something else. I know when my car was running out at idle (it would cool back down when driving) it was my water pump. I went to electric any way because it looks better to me. I loved my flex fan.

Well it was sort of like trail and error for me. I just was going to replace stuff untill the problem went away and it so happen that it was the first thing I brought. I didn't buy anything fancy. Just the regular water pump from autozone. Summit has a high flow pump for pretty cheap. But if you flex fan has all the blades and nothing is wrong with it I doubt that's the problem. Mines pushed major air and I haven't came across another fan like it yet.

Does your fan have a shroud around it? If not that may be the reason for overheating. Flex fans haul some major air, but cause drag on the motor.
