I am looking into getting the Pa-Performance alternator. I do not know which one to get. Large case or small case. would the small case be better? I do not want to cut my alt. bracket? I have 5 aftermarket autometer gauges and I plan to put the florida50 gauges in, I have a decent sound system, viper alarm and I plan on putting a electric fan on my car one day. will the small case with 60 amp idle/ 120 amp max work good or do I need the large case with 80 amps idle/160 amps max. Thanks Travis

Go with the PA 130 amp at least, which is the large case. I believe they only make a 130 or a 200 amp for our fox bodies. I just installed one a couple of months ago it was fairly straight forward and don’t forget to get the upgraded wire kit to go with it. Mine cam from 50Resto. If your running a stereo you will need the 4 gauge wire that comes in the kit makes the install a snap. The grinding notch on the bracket is minimal, like the size of 2 dimes next to each other. Plus its aluminum so its soft and easy to do with a dremel or a cut off wheel.
Powermasters are junk. I had one and the black "powdercoating" was flaking off in the box. The really poor 8ga wire they supply is not up to par with the ammount of juice it is suppose to supply and there aren't any directions on which wires go where(GM style alt). On top of that it doesn't charge well at idle which is where you need it... not buzzing down the freeway at 65. Powermaster fit was pretty much drop in.... except for the wireing. For the 3g I used a grinder while the alt bracket was still on the car and notched it. Probably took 3 minutes or so with being careful. I have the 130amp 3G from pa-performance and it supplies plenty of juice. I didn't buy a wiring kit but did my own wireing. Whatever you do, definately upgrade to 4ga wireing with a 100 or 150a fuse.
