Looking to put on a power pipe and a Pro M Shorty into the fenderwell. Need to know which one is better ?

I'm putting down 281/308 with stock computer, stock cam, 24lb injectors and LT's. Those numbers were with a Pro Chamber O/R H-pipe, and I've now swapped that out for a Bassani O/R X-pipe. Runs a whole lot better !

See sig for more bolt on info. Let me know which to get 77 vs 80, and where's the best place to purchase. Thanks, Dewman :nice:

I would not worry about a ProM maf as things are already in the works for a company resrtucture. I can't see a prob with service or support but I heard it will take a few weeks to get everything all set.

I'd take a ProM maf over a C&L maf any day.

As for the difference between the 77 & 80 ProM mafs ...................

The electronics are the same
The 77 has an Aluminum housing
The 80 has a Plastic housing
The 80 you asked about is smaller in size

Thanks for the update Grady. I think Anderson Motorsports has the 24lb 80mm with a 4" filter and I can put a power pipe into the fenderwell with that have a sweet setup.

Thanks, Dewman :nice:

Dewman

I have the 80 shorty with the filter that is supplied with it as far back in the fwell as I can get it but you need to know that compared to the stock maf, that thing is really big. You can't get the whole thing in the fwell unless you do a 90 elbow or something like that and i wanted a straight shot to the tb. I've got pics of the homemade cai & maf install if you wanna see em.

Is the filter that's supplied a slip on ? I'm using a slip on with the my C&L thats short and opened on the top, and I was thinking it might work with the ProM 80.

I like to see how you did yours, so let's see those pics.

Is the MAF connector long enough to reach inside the fenderwell ?

Thanks, Dewey

Got to take the little woman out for some lunch so I'll get em up a little later.

Yes

btw .... you'll have to make the fw hole a little (ok a lot, lol) bigger.

OK, here are the pics. At the time all I had was gloss black paint and I think it looks better with flat black.

Excellent photos, Grady. I see what you mean with making the opening bigger :rlaugh: I like the straight shot to the tb.

Stangfreak95 nice looking CAI and engine bay !

Grady, What size pipe did you use ? Do you have a parts list you could email me ? Looks like Lowe's will be a good place to start for the parts.

Is there there another hose that connects to the inlet pipe ? Can't remember what it connects to. Getting old. :D

Thanks again, Dewey

Mr. D Man

I'm gonna keep this on the forum so others may get some use from this info.

I found most of the stuff in the Plumbing Dept at Home Depot.

Three inch pvc pipe
Fernco three inch coupler thingies
A section of soft Aluminum stock for the maf mounting bracket

I made a small hole in the coupler and used a 90* plastic fitting with the stock rubber hose to connect to the oil fill tube.

I used a die grinder and a cut-off wheel to enlarge (HOG OUT, lol) the hole.

There you go buddy :D ..................... Have fun

humm,.....77 or 80 is a good question. I have to get one before i get my heads. I'll be going with the AFM power pipe. I don't know which one is better 77 or 80 anyone got any info?

They both have the same electronics so one is not more accurate than the other.

I think the shorty 80 is smaller in physical size than the 77 so making it fit the power pipe would be more easy. I'd check with AFM for that info.

Called AFM 80 sounds better for me and fits the power pipe easily. So I got the last 80mm 94-95 cobra one they had. Yahoo now got to wait till next week to order my power pipe. Jerry at AFM was very helpful and also he said that after this other company takes over for Pro-m the prices will be up over 350 for a mass air meter.

Too bad about the price increase.

I still would rather have a meter that has a flow chart supplied with it and has stood the test of time to show it is a proven quality part.

The maf is one of those parts in the combo that IMHO should not be considered for making a compromise.
