I really want to get my new combo to start so I can bleed my new power steering pump, and set my timing, etc. Plus, I just want to hear it run! Even if they arent on this site, can anyone recommend someone that can do a mail order tune for me? My combo is:

Thumper ported GT40P's
Trickflow Street burner upper and lower
stock cam
80mm MAF calibrated for 24's currently
42# injectors (going with boost in the future)
70mm throttle body
EGR, smog deleted

I will be having it dyno tuned, but its looking like it may be closer to a month before I can make it happen now. Plus Im sure the tuner would rather deal with a running car then one off a trailer that wont start... Please help guys!

I could burn you one as well, I use SCT. Just make sure who ever you get the chip from uses the same as the place your taking it to dyno or youll be out extra money for a new chip!

Get a hold of Wes

I tried, but he must be swamped. He responded right away and asked for my combo, but I havent heard back from him for over 3 weeks. Ive sent a couple emails just checking in, but no response back.

Hey Rick, would you mind burning one for me? I am going to have Bob Kurgan in IL do my dyno tune, and he uses SCT as well as some others. I'll send you a PM.

Still working on this...

Adam, I have an email out to Rick at Amazon, just waiting for a response.

Kurt, JMS hasnt responded to my email and its been 6 days...

Im starting to get discouraged, is it really that hard to tune my combo? I guess the uncertainty of the port work, and big injectors must have everyone too worked up to help or something. Im at work all day and havent been able to call these shops to speak to anyone. I would assume email would be checked at least every couple days anyway.

Rick, if you can help me I sure would appreciate it. Summer is going to be over before I get my car back on the road....

Rick at Amazon responded yesterday and said it wouldnt be a problem. He asked that I call him to discuss the specifics, but it was already after hours before I was able to check my email. Im going to call him on Monday and get it squared away. I also was able to get the car to fire up and idle by removing my old chip from the computer. I dont know how that worked, cause I have no EGR, smog, etc and that chip had those functions turned off... But whatever, at least I can choke on the smoke of 42 lb injectors dumping too much fuel and get my power steering bled! Thanks again Adam, you helped me out on this one bro.

Just got the chip today and installed it about an hour ago. The car wont even start now... I pulled the spout connector too, but it just cranks and cranks. The damn thing at least ran before. Any ideas are appreciated, as I dont want to assume its a bad tune yet.

Will it start without the chip???

Give him a ring and let him know.

Yeah it started and ran rough without the chip. I got it start with the chip, I had to hold the pedal to the floor. I told him my combo with the 42 lb injectors, but it runs super rich still! It wont idle by itself, but I was able to hold the throttle open and set the base timing at 10* with the spout pulled. My garage fills with choking smoke even with all the doors open... Im wondering if I should put my stock injectors and MAF back on, and see if he can get enough fuel out of them for my combo. I mean, yeah I have ported heads, but they dont flow as much as aluminum AND Im running a stock cam still. Do you think my 19's could keep up? I bet that would eliminate a lot of my problem, and then Ill just keep the giant MAF and injectors for next summer when the vortech is bought. I just though he could tune it close enough for me to run them, but the second I blip the throttle the car drowns and dies... I sent him an email, so we will see tomorrow what his thoughts are. The good news is that he will reflash it as many times as it takes all included in the original cost, but I have to pay shipping to him each time I send it and it takes 4 days each way... Summer is going to be over before I get to drive the car. :notnice:

I knew he did the free reflashes thats why chris likes him so much. But chris has a 98 so he just sends the new file. Sorry to hear about your problems. maybe he thought you said 24's?

What maf? and did you remember to state it was calibrated for 24's

TBH it may of been easier to go with a 42lb calibrated maf or just kept the stock injectors and maf... I know the maf wont be holding you back. and 42's are rather big....

19's might cut it. but its going to be pretty close... 24's would work lol

But before you spend any money see what can be done with the tune.

Well thats the whole thing. I bought the 42's because I am going blown in a matter of 6-12 months. I didnt want to buy injectors twice, cause I had read that you can run 42's and tune it properly for an NA combo. I ended up putting the 19's back in and installing my stock MAF. With the new chip the car wouldnt start. With my old chip which was for a stock shortblock, Street heat intake, no smog or EGR, the car starts up and runs pretty good. I had to back the timing off to help avoid detention when I rev it, but I think an adjustable fuel regulator may help me get enough fuel through the 19's to get by. The best part of it all is that I didnt press my power steering pulley on far enough and shredded my new serp belt... I think Im gonna run a short belt with no power steering just so I can drive the car tomorrow. I know it wont be very strong with the timing backed way down, but its a starting point. My only other option is to sell the 42's and buy 24's. My new MAF is calibrated for 24's so that would make the tune easy. Then when I buy a blower, sell off the 24's and buy more 42's... I dont want to blow $250-300 on another set of injectors right now.

I shot a vid of the car in the garage. The sound quality sucks, and its dark lol. You can hear the popping when I rev it. I didnt plan what to film when I picked up the camera, so I set it back to get a shot of the idle and a little revving. If nothing else its proof that the damn car runs again.

Lol, I dont know why I post videos, my camera and video making skills suck!
