I never said he didn't support it. I said that the Communist Broadcasting Corp says that he would send troops thats incorrect. We need to stand behind Bush and say yes we support it. That doesn't mean we send in troops. that means we send a few more troops to do UN peacekeeping in Afganistan. To free up Americans to go to Iraq. :owned: :bang:

This is just in good fun, but I have to know does CTV stand for Communist Television too? :p

"Last April, Harper said of the war: "We should have been there, shoulder to shoulder with our Allies."

But now he says what he really meant was that Ottawa should have sent a "predeployment" of troops before the war to scare former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

"It was about putting pressure on Saddam to comply with UN resolutions and I continue to believe if allies had acted in a concerted measure to put that pressure, we could have avoided a war. But we didn't do that," he said in Barrie, Ontario."

I would agree with him we should have supported the US, and just because Sadam got most of the votes , don't you think thats a little rigged. anyways, I don't have faith in the system, but One crook or another makes no difference to me, I'm just sick of the liberals **** for now, and would like to see the Conservatives do something, although I know the easterners will vote the liberals in again.

Reporters twist words around everyone knows that.Any media outletbacks the current Government including CTV I will repeat what I said before. Sending troops to Afganistan is standing shoulder to shoulder with our allies. It frees better equipped troops to deal with the war in iraq.

It is the Liberals fault that the soldiers in our Armed Forces are going to the food bank to survive. It is the Liberals fault that our Soldiers who fought for your FREEDOM in WW2 are dying without dignity. Politicians are taking plane trips to France to the D-Day celebrations when our Soldiers who fought there have to pay there own way. We need to abolish this gun control legislation the hundreds of millions of dollars that went into this useless legislation could have eliminated waiting lists in hospitals. The Liberals are against legalization of Pot for medicinal purpose. The PC are not. Should abortions be stopped other than for immediate health concerns yes. Thats my point of view. There are 10% of women in Alberta having abortions. And it's the same women all the time. Are they to cheap to buy condoms. Since these women are doing this they should allow Stem cell research to be done so poeple like my wife can be cured of her disability. The Federal Liberals and the Provincial PC's have dropped the ball on a workable Disability program that helps disabled people can get out and have a good quality of life. And to contribute to society. A disabled person in this Province has to survive on $850/ Month. That is Freakin Stupid.
The green party will never have enough votes to make a official party status. A vote for the Green Party is a vote for the Liberals.

After witnessing Debate 2004, I actually feel dumber. Our country is up the proverbial creek without a paddle.
Thats what happens the media runs a debate. If the debate would have had Citizens asking the party leaders ? that hold importance to regular people not reporters the debate would have been more interesting.

YAY and it even comes with rust! sweet.... Wait a second Canada doesn't have any military helicopters... at least none that can carry an ordanance sooooo what's the point??? Why would he buy something for equipment we do not have. We have dozens of CF 18's that could be outfitted for carrier duty for a minimal cost. Why would they not go that route? Or why buy a carrier at all? Canada has friends in every part of the world that would allow us use of a runway.

I agree the military needs some beefing but honestly an air craft carrier is low on the priority list.
I supose Harper's next trick is to buy a ton of old apache helicopters or better yet obsolete huey cobras. I think Canada needs its own defence contractor again.
We should be going the same route as they went with the frigates they built ten years or so ago. Super high tech and incredibly efficient. Like those we need to build our own stuff. History has shown we can do it better than anybody so why buy other nations old crap?
Anyone remember the Arrow? Yeah that got scrapped so we could buy some super duper cf 101 Voodoos that SUCKED ARSE and where designed to carry a nuclear payload that we did not have.... Or the super craptacular Bomark missle defence system that also did not work..... Our leaders SUCK. We deserve better.

That isn't the exact Carrier. It is just a plastic model. We would have helicopters to replace the sea kings that needed replacing 20 years ago.
Thank the Liebrals for that one. The Voodoo Fighter wasn't state of the art like the Arrow but it was good for the time it was constructed. I agree we need to build our own equipment we have unemployed ship builders on both coasts. The Arrow wasn't scrapped to buy CF -101s it was scrapped because Defienbaker listen to people who knew nothing about aircraft design.

I agree we need a military, but I dunno where Harper is going to pull the funds for this project. Why can't we have an aircraft carrier? Why do we have to rely on other countries to transport our troops to the places they are needed? The liberal government has done it's best to steralize the canadian population so much that the thought of any type of fighting force makes people think of war mongering troops who want to pillage and rape. WWII, canada had one of the best fighting forces in the world, and we were proud, now we have sea kings that crash on our own ships sending them back for repairs before they even get close to a battle! We purchase 1950's state-of-the-art equipment from Britian thinking it's cool to have older brothers cast away's. It's pathetic really. The liberals have done nothing but make the liberals happy, lined their own pockets with our money, treated this country like their own play thing, they don't listen to the population unless it's for their own agenda. It's enough to drive a person nuts really :bang:

Esh, one of Harper's good qualities is that he's pretty upfront about how he feels on the issues. US good, War good, Gays bad, fairly straightforward, less bull**** than the other guys. You don't have to try and revise what he said or supported to try and defend your position.

Like I said leave the revisionist crap and the claims of left wing media lies to the american conservatives, we don't need that kind of ignorance up here.

IMO Harper kicked Martin's ass last night. Martin came off as a typical bull**** spouting politician who wouldn't address any of the questions directly. What it will come down to is does the population want the devil we know or the devil we don't know. :(

Wouldn't it be nice to get a political leader who does not have, how do I put this delicately, a major age gap between the new voters and baby boomers. I think a political leader who is more in tuned with the youth of today and still at an age group that can connect with the ageing population would at least see things from every angle. the older politicians may have a good view of our past, but I believe it deminished their view of our future. It seems as though Martin is on the "Do as you have always done" track, which works for them as they end up "getting what they always got". But that's just my opinion on the old fogies who run this country.
I don't think anyone came out on top in the debate. There was too much of "My dad can beat up your dad" going on to get much accomplished.

I don't understand why all this empahsis on our military. Like who cares? We are traditionally peace keeprs. The UN asks for peace keepers for a region, we go, supply food, buffer zones, medical etc....

But really, other then that, WHY do we need much of a military? We are strategically important, and seen as a neutral country. The Americans would never allows anyone to invade us, and the rest of the world would never let the American's invade us (a far more likely scenario)

So sick of this "our American Allies" bs. The Americans are out there ONLY for themselves. When its suites them, they WILL take what they want from us. The war in Iraq is illegal. We got no business there. I SAW harper on TV doing his war mongering bit, so **** him.

Our poor service men.... big deal. Choose a different profession. When there is no more money in automotive performance, I will move along. Fact of life, no matter what you do.

Why do we need a military? Good question ask someone who was at D-Day for an answer to that.
War in Iraq illegal? Saddam Hussien killing people in mass like Hitler isn't a bit disturbing to you? How about his helpfulness in terrorists flying two planes into the Twin towers? I suppose if it happened to Canada and you lost family either in the plane or building you would have a different view I am sure.
Even if the agenda was for oil, who would you rather have control over the oil sands in Iraq? A sadistic lunatic who plays with chemical weapons, or an absolute idiot who is a bigger threat to himself then anyone else? People are just pissed cause bush had the balls to go into Iraq and straighten out Saddam's regieme of murder and theft, and now he may be reaping the rewards for it. If I remember history correctly no-one batted an eye when Hitler started to do it, until he got greedy and started to take over too much of europe. Nip it in the bud. War is never straight foreward, nobody like it, but it's a fact of life that has been happening since the dawn of man.

Oh Toma...you just don't understand. When your family moved to Canada it was for a better life, free from the corruption of government and for new opportunites - the same as everybody else that lives in this country. Well, those freedoms were paid for in human blood, Canadians blood.

People say, oh it cannot happen in Canada - but it can happen. You should know this yourself, as I believe you had family in Yugoslavia in the late 90's. The military can be agressors, yes, but they can also be saviours.

People join the military because they have beliefs greater than making money. That does not mean they should have to get food from the food bank.
Canadas military has some of the best trained troops in the world, but they need the equipment to do their job. We have troops in Afghanistan that wear GREEN fatiques.

Those UN peacekeepers that you are so fond of ARE the military, and they need the helicopters and transport ships to get where you want them to go.

America IS Canadas friend. Whether you like it or not. Canadians and Americans have died side by side in every conflict in history (the war of 1812 was against Britian if you remember correctly). Canadians and Americans have a common way of life, common moral beliefs and common legal/economic structures.

Many left-wing nutbars complain about how terrible the US health care system is, but fail to mention that not only does the US spend the same percentage of GDP on health care that Canada does, but that health insurance would actually be CHEAPER for most in the US than in Canada (how much do you pay in taxes to support your free health care?)

Liberal politics divide by placing people into special interest groups, conservative politics make everybody equal.

Buddy, no offense, but you have no CLUE. The war IS illegal under UN charters and international law. THis is not up for debate, it's a fact.

A link between Iraq and 9/11 was never found, and the latest inquiry turned up NO connection. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3814217.stm

had there been FREE democratic elections in Iraq, many analysts beelive Saddam would have won.

It's people like you that blabber out baseless lies and propoganda that are the REAL danger.... all mouth, no thought.

Hey, even in the US, the approval rating for this war has now sliped to under 40%! So it's not just me ;) The truth is out there ;)

Ahhh, NO..... but thanks for batting ;)

I don't understand the parrallel. It was the US military that was the enemy over in Yugoslavia. It was funny how over there, the US supported Osama, the terrorists, and even gave them weapons and training.... lol Irony if there ever was any.

Well, I cannot generalize and really say WHY anyone joins the military, the ones that I know PERSONALLY that did, did it cause they had no other options (as they saw it),and it was an "easy" choice. If it was not about the money, then who cares if they go to the food bank.

Those UN peacekeepers that you are so fond of ARE the military, and they need the helicopters and transport ships to get where you want them to go.
Ahhhh yes, but we have plenty for REAL UN mandated peacekeeping duties. We certainly do not have enough to send over to every bloodbath the American's create.

Nothing to do with it. When the American's want our oil or fresh water, don't kid yourself, they will just TAKE it if they do not like our terms.

The bottom line is the US is out there for NO ONE but themselves. Whether legal, moral, or otherwise. They are the big bully on the block right now, and they like to push their weight around.

I had buddies like that growing up. Steve (240 pounds, boxer) would pick fights with 190 pound wimps. Would I jump in and help him when someone fought back? **** no ;) And I believe it would be wrong for ANYONE to do so. One time, he got into a fight in the bar I worked at. He beat up some 180 pound kid. After work, he asks me for a ride, cause someone slashed his tires lol :rlaugh: . booo hooo hooo ;) Sure I gave him a ride, but he got no sympathy.

That is the real lesson. Even the biggest bully will get his nose bloodied from time to time. It's a fact of life.

Canada HAD an international reputaion of being even handed and fair. It's why tourists and travellers abroad who were not Canadian would sew Canadian flags on their backpacks.

IT was funny, even in the late 80's when we were travelling aroudn Europe, EVERYONE pretended they did not speek english, till they saw our Canadian passports, then miraculously, the remembered how.

I do not want to lose that standing, and source of pride.
