Complicated? It's just a DOHC twin-turbo REVERSE-FLOW V8 with two separate cooling systems, two computers to run the engine, and extra crap like Valvetronic that serves no purpose other than to generate revenue for dealership service departments... I mean... Um... Provide more precise control of engine air intake than apparently an IAC or ETB can.Holy hell i'm never buying a BMW. That looks...complicated.

If Holt Cat or the Kubota dealership down here ever ends up hiring again, I've given some thought to jumping to that side of the business.I work on Kubota tractors, compact track loaders, skod steers, turf equipment, excavators, etc. Splitting a 100hp tractor apart to replace transmission gears or shuttle clutches is quite a job. The last one I did took 40 hours. If you have to replace gears, PTO clutch, or other parts it adds to that.
Not to mention all the DEF and emission equipment failures. I don't think anyone has a full understanding of DEF in the different environments these machines are exposed to.
I'll work on equipment for a living over automotive any day. I'll never go back to the auto industry.

$100 labor to change a head light bulb convinced me about not working on newer cars.
Very intense, subframe is supposed to come off to access part of the harness, as is the passenger side intake manifold. I actually took the wheel and the fender liners out instead to save time. I still need to pull the intercooler on that side Monday morning to unplug the VANOS on that bank, then I get to start reassembly. I also have an X3 with the B46 4-banger in it that needs the engine harness replaced for the same reason waiting on this 7-series to leave. Rodents LOVE BMW wiring.From someone who has a 650, THAT sounds like an intense job AND an Expensive one......
