Alright i was wandering what the widest rear tire i can put on the back of my car and not have any rubbing issues.

What year is your car? If it's the fox body I think it is 275 and for the SN95+ it's 315

I race on 275/60/15's and they don't rub. You also got to figure in if you will have folkes (even kids) in the back seat. Makes a difference......

I run 275/40 -17 Nitto drag radials with no rubbing. I think this the max on a stock rim. When I go to the track and drop the air pressure to 17lbs it will sometimes slightly rub the quad shock.

315's will fit with no modification if the wheel BS is correct. I run 315-35-17 tires on my car with a 17X10.5" wheel.

I have 315s and they rub when I hit bumps, etc. But they do not rub bad, just a couple small spots in the wheel well. I plan on getting 1/2" spacers to fix the problem and push the wheels out slightly. Even 10.5" rims have a very slight "tucked in" look. I think 275s (i have those on the fronts) are your best bet.

Not if you have the proper BS. There are a number of BS that different companies use on their 10.5" wheels. AFS typically uses 6.95" but mine are 6.75" Since mine have a little less backspacing the wheel is moved that much farther out towards the fender. I'm 99% positive that a 1/2" wheel spacer will put your back wheels out past the fender. I don' think mine could be out any farther than they are without causing me problems.



Hunter- in the 18" variety, I think the widest you can go with is a 305 is you find the correct aspect ratio so that the tire isn't any higher than the stockers which are around 25.8 or so inches tall.

Thanks for the tip, Paul. I haven't done any close measuring, I just guessed that 1/2" would do the trick. Guess I'll have to take a closer look before I get any spacers. I remember all those posts about your search for the perfect wheels. You obviously did your homework. Looks like a 1/4" spacer or a metric (5mm?) would do a better job.

BTW Hunted I flipped my quad shocks to put on my wheels/tires. There was NO WAY my wheels were going on otherwise with 315 tires. From what I hear though, new LCAs take care of wheelhop, so quad shocks wouldn't be needed if you got those.

Josh, the easy way to tell what you need is to take a fe washers and put them between the wheel and the rotor. Add washers until you have the wheel where you want it, then go and buy the spacer that is the closest to what you come up with. With my 6.75" wheels I had NO clearance issues with the quad shocks, my car is at the factory ride height though which could account for why I have had NO issues what-so-ever, that along with the fact that I run nitto 315 tires which are a little more narrow than most others.

Nitto 315s seem alot smaller than my BFG 315s heh. I run the AFS 17x10.5 with BFG 315s out back. I have zero issues if Im driving by myself, however, I will have to make room in places for when passengers are with me due to scrubbing the inner fenderwell.

I dropped my car about 2-2.5" What would be the widdest wheel (rim) you think I could get on my car and what would be the correct backspacing. I am looking to purchase the Torque Thrust IIs (17x9 or 17x9.5 all around). Thanks

Bump cause I need to know the backspacing for 15x10 in the weld Prostars for my cobra. What do I need for the fronts also. I heard of fitment issues with Cobra Brakes so if anyone has done this and can give me the specs I'd appreciate it

Do you have cobra brakes front and rear? The fronts will not work without a HUGE spacer and LONG wheel studs. The rear I'm unsure of, I think yeahloh95 got away with running 15" weld XP's out back with cobra brakes.

It seems like most places that make 17x9in wheels run the same backspacing 24mm or something. just throwin it out there to see if thats the case.

The brakes are Factory Cobra....I'm more concerned with the rear then the front. I'll get 16's in the front if I have to. Reason for 15's is cause I want to run 315/60 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials out back. I was thinking prostars but I know the XP clear with no issues. Unfortunatly for me they don't make XP's anymore
