My current combo is in my sig and I have about 295rwhp. This winter I am planning a lot of fun stuff, first off I am building my rear end - Moser axles, Detroit tru-trac, MM T/A, MM extreme duty control arms, MM adjustable sway bar, MM Panhard Bar, MM Coil overs all the way around with Bilsteins, and a full 5 lug conversion w/ Cobra brakes.

Then I will be getting my X-heads ported by Thumper, he says they should flow about the same as AFR 205's, I will be getting a Kenne Bell 2.2 w/ flowzilla manifold pushing 12psi and a ported and polished GT40 lower. And then to top it off I am getting a Snow Performance water/methanol injection system.

So do ya'll think I'll hit my goal of 575rwhp and low 11's in the quarter??

so your hoping to add 280 to the 295 you already have now?.... i dont know man!

lol...

the flowzilla will definitely HELP him get there.

I dunno about 575...

but it doesnt exactly TAKE that much power to reach low 11's.

In short.. I believe you can reach your ET goal (provided you can drive :p )

but the HP goal is up in the air.. 500 is possible... but 575? meh.

BTW... I hope you got a new stronger block.. the stocker isnt gonna take that power level with much abuse for very long.

yeah i guess its possible,... i just really dont know!.. i mean that would be cool if you could get it there! but when my car had 460h/p the guy i bought it off of ran real high 11's... i think if you make it to 575rwh/p
That sounds like mid10's to me, but ive never been nor no nothing about... so this is all just a poof of smoke!...

I agree with pony power, alittle juice and youll be there no problem.

lol, I never said anything about juice

But since we mentioned it...

My new combo will probably make 400-450 hp (blown 331), on the engine stand being put together.

I was shooting for 500+ but I have the smaller SC vortech and I had to get rid of My edelbrock heads for a really weird combo thumper get up.. definitely different than what he sells on a regular basis.. but in a good way.

SOOO... since I do have a mexican block.. I figured I would just *sneaky pete* my way to the extra HP..

yea i know you didnt, i was just adding to what you said, i agree about the et being right but the hp alittle off, and needing a new block, i was just adding alittle juice would help him reach his goal with his combo no problem.

My whole motor only has 9k on it. If it wasn't that low of mileage I would be going the new block/stroker route instead of SC.

Yeah, if I don't hit my HP goal no biggy, just as long as I can make low 11's. High 10's would be righteous!!

I think you are missing my point

9k or 199k ... those power levels will crack your block. Either way.. ur gonna need that new block reguadless of your car being low mileage.

SOME people get away making that much power... BUT they are on barrowed time.. the block will eventually fail when you are running 450, 500+ hp.

even your internals of that engine wont hold up...
not including the block itself...

forged pistons are a must for anything that's not n/a....

wikipedia- Hypereutectic Pisons...

And from what i understand that GT40 Crate is basically a stock block with new internals... but nothing better that stock, other than just being new...

False... Hyper pistons WILL hold up to power..

they just dont hold up to detonation and bad tunes.

In general.. internals are usually stronger than the 5.0l block itself.

As I understand it, hypereutectic pistons can be manufactured to closer tolerances than forged pistons, so they "fit" better in the block. This means less ring wear and a longer life engine. However, they are more brittle than forged pistons and may not be a good choice if you are planning on running NOS or a blower...

I guarantee that the GT40 Crate block will not be able to stand up to 575rwhp.... at least not for very long...

Call me stupid... but I wouldn't use either the block nor internals he currently has as a building block for a build of this caliber...

i would say that 550ish rw torque might be a possibility. as for that much hp..i think its a little optimistic. then agian im no expert, but running that power your block and internals better be solid, and a really good set of hg's will be in order, and i would think that low 11s will be in your future, assuming you can not only drive well, but get the car to hook, 11s should be possible. the methanol will be a nice addition, its so awesome that a little water and washer fluid does so much.

This is true, that motor in general wont handle that kind of power. What poneypower was saying though, which is true, is that the actual block of the motor will be the "weak link" in the motor. The internals are not meant for that kind of power either, but the block is more prone to go first.
