Umm...
so basically do exactly this... and you'll get the numbers you want...

And no... no Dart block or 351 lying around...

New plan...New block and need suggestions

Ok, rather than starting a new thread I decided to resurrect this thread I started a few weeks ago.

I have decided to heed your guy's advice and go with a new block rather than destroying my low mileage GT40 motor. So now I need advice on a route to go...

I definatly still want to get a Kenne Bell blower still, I'm just not sure if I want to go with a 351w block and get a stroker kit for it or get a Dart block with a 347 kit. I can get a 351w block from the local junkyard for less than $50, but then I don't if I could still use the Kenne Bell. How much would a good stroker kit be for a 351w and should I keep my X-heads and get them ported?

If I were to do a Dart block w/ 347 kit, what would be the best route, get a full 347 block from Dart w/ heads and all? Or just get a Dart block piece together the stoker kit and keep my X-heads and get them ported?

Just looking for some suggestions and ideas as this will be my first engine buildup.

Im not sure if you realize how much money an assembled 347 dart block and all will cost, but If you have some money to spend.... (if you plan on running boost) I would do a dart 331/forged internals/ported TW's (TEA, fox lake, w/e)/custom cam/heavily ported GT40 lower/2.2L KB/ and even some water/methonal if you please/ and of course a complete fuel system. If your gonna spring for the dart, you might as well do it right.

Yeah, I ran into a little extra cash this winter so money isn't really problem on the buildup.

If I were get a 331 or 351, would I be choking them using ported X-heads and an E-cam??

I am down here in orlando. 575 is a LOT of horsepower on a stock block, not to say it can not be done, because Boost is a hell of a drug. Lol. With methenol 14lbs is a breeze... But like everyone else said, dont expect to beat on it everyday and keep your crank and rods on the inside...

If you want to keep your heads and cam I dont see 575 hp. But if you get the dart and some good internals, you can really crank that KB boost. It all depends on your combo to decide choking, the x-heads come on 351 crate engines but they are still not a common 351 head. Id put them on the 331. If thats what your working with, id say use them to save 1200-1500 bucks. If you go 351 you need another distributor, headers, etc.
