Will these rims/tires rub

I've always been a big fan of big meats in the back and everytime I do a good sized tire, no matter the car, it always seems so small. So this time I am going all out. I really hope this fits. I'd like it to fit my 85, but in case it doesnt, I can put them on my 95 but here is the plan. I want the AFS 17X9, 17X10.5 deep dish black chrome bullitts with 275/40s in the front and 315/35s in the back. My 85 is very lowered and even lower with the big block so Im not so sure but the 95 is stock height but will get the b springs at some point. I know about the quad shocks and rolling the lips but Im not going to tub or do anything crazy. Exhaust on both cars is 2.5 all the way back and is staying that way. I dont mind the occasionally rubbing in tight corners in a parking lot, but it cant rub on the street. Anyone try these sizes or have experience fitting these monsters??

315 35s on the back of a fox???

I had rubbing and had to flip my quad shocks putting 255 in the back....

you say you want huge tires but you dont want to compromise with exhaust or mini tubbing the car, so i dowbt they will fit, also whats the b/s on the rims? i think bert 306 has 305's on his car, but i cant see anything bigger fitting with stock wheelwells

My 275's rub with a 1" drop, so I am guessing that 315's will rub real bad!

Thanks Nitto, that makes no sense at all. An attitude at just 22 posts, your a real help to this community. Tell ya what, learn something about mustangs and then come back with some helpful technical information.

Tony, where were they rubbing and what rim were you sporting.

Blakthorn, you couldnt get 255s to fit?? Thats a 10mm wider tire than stock, so Im assuming you had a retardedly tall tire??

i would PM bert306. he has an sonic blue lx with 17x9's with a 315/35/17 nitto 555r out back with tail pipes. So it is possible but is alot of work. Good luck mane.

stock is a 225 width tire, not 245

if anything in your rear end has bent due to abuse/an accident, that can cause even smaller width tires to rub, especially on one side of the car

I would remove the quad shocks and roll the fenders, but I think you'll still have rubbing issues with the 315's in the back unless you remove the exhaust piping

I really doubt you'll get the 275's to fit up front without severely limiting your turning radius, which isn't too hot to begin with. My buddy barely fit his 245's on a 9" wide rim in the front without rubbing, without the car being lowered

Ive got Eagle Cobra R reps, 17x9 23mm offset, stock fox track width, 1" rear drop. Only the drivers side rubs, mostly when turning left into a driveway of over a speed bump. Its just bad enough to scratch up the tire and annoy the hell out of me. I am going to switch to a 255/40 to match my fronts and drop the rear a tiny bit more to get it to sit level. It is true that bert306 has 315's, but his car looks fairly high in the rear, which doesnt suit my tastes, but if your ok with that, then rock on!

i am curoius on the 275 up front too...a friend gave me a set of the 17" Tri-bars with older 275 tires on them and i wanted to put em on for a little while until the tires are done....i guess ill just have to try, but it looks real grim that they will even come close on a lowered 90 lol

No, actually 245s are stock on a 94+ GT which is most likely the car that is getting the rims and tires. And besides, the fox frame and body are basically the same from 85 to 95, a 245 fits just fine.
I know about Berts car but he was saying that the Nittos are a lot smaller than regular tires so they are more like a 295 or something.
Of course even 295s puts all you *******s with an attitude to rest. You people poking fun and saying you couldnt even get a small tire to fit have some serious issues and when I get the 275s up front to fit and the larger tires out back to fit, Im just going to laugh.
But thanks to all that provided helpful information.
I already know the 275s will fit just fine since Ive seen it in person on a lowered mustang. But I dont recall what he had out back.
Ok, with all that said, Im still really curious how you guys arent getting 245s up front and 255s out back to fit. My 85 is slammed and I run 245s up front all day with 87 spindles and brakes, and Ive had up to a 255 drag radial that didnt rub out back while it was still slammed. If this setup was to go on the 85 it would most likely need 245/275, but Im not too concerned since I can easily get all this to fit on my 95. Tires are so cheap on Ebay I can play around. Worse case scenario, I sport 255/40s on the front and 275/40s out back on the 95 which would still be mean looking.

You did tell us you had an sn95 They will definitely fit bigger tires, I would go 285-295 rear on a 10" wheel, and 265-275 front on a 9" wheel and you shouldnt have any probs, even if its lowered a bit. They do have bigger wheelwells. So give us some pics when you git er done.

i have 265-35-18 in the front and only rubs at full lock.275-40-18 in the rear and no rubbing at all.

It does make sense, it was a multiple choice answer, instead of question

Anyhow, how many 'tech' posts would be acceptable to you for someone to have "an attitude", 50.. 100 .. 1,500 .. 10,000

A lowered fox is undoubtedly tighter and a 315 would either rub the hell out of the inner fender, or with a less + offset wheel it would tear the fender lips to shreads. Then there is tailpipe and quadshock issues to boot.

An SN, I don't know for certain, never owned one or cared to play with them.
Although a friend with every generation says a 275 fits up front and a 315 will work with a panhard MM set-up.
Can I confirm that, no.

As far as learning something about a Mustang, wouldn't you agree that my first post answer to you was from experience with a fox stang ...
