i have an 84 mustang that the previous owner slaughtered the wiring harness under the dash and coming through the firewall on drivers side....he literally just cut wires in two at the firewall....do you have a colored diagram for an 84? the car is carbed with auto meter guages,3g alt and 94+ mini starter, i installed the 3g and starter from scratch so no probs there...my problems are with some wires at the solenoid that were cobbed together with fusible links......what are they, where do they go?......it's a yellow wire with 3 links spliced to it.....another wire is a big yellow wire exiting the firewall on the passenger side...what is it for.....i basically just wanna start the car and have lights and a heater....

ttt anyone? i have a haynes manual but the diagrams aren't very clear or descriptive...electrical is my weak point....i don't mind wiring something new with directions but surely there is no need for 17 miles of wire behind the dash of a carbed car

Go to the library, and look at the automotive manuals. Its not a sure thing, but I have gotten good diagrams and information there. The bigger the city you live in the more books they will have. What sucks is the last time I went they were all checked out. Seems they allow reference books to be checked out now. I have copied the pages I needed on the machine they have.

Jerry - I have done that also. Like you say - the bigger the library the better the chances of getting what you need. The one I wnet to had electrical diagrams of about every car made in the last 20 years.

The heavy gauge yellow wire is pretty much the main feed. The two heavy gauge yellow wires that splice onto the heavy gauge yellow run back to the ignition switch and supplies power for anything that would be a key-on accessory. If you haven't found this connection yet, If I remember correctly it's on the passenger's side in the biggest harness. Let me know if you need to know anything else. I'll keep the diagram by the puter. :)
