What a night.

After fillin up at $1.99 a gallon at the good old Phillips 66 by my moms house in the burbs. I decided to burn off some cheap gas by doin a little powershiftin. Well, I turn right and get on it through 1st. Blow the tires off in 2nd. And when time came to throw it in third, BOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM B*itch there goes my trans. :rlaugh:

Every gear except 3rd works. I dont know why its funny. But now I actually have a reason to go shopping for a good deal. Usually its, partshopper, the x2c's website. But I got my eye on that new trans the x2c has. I know they have 2. They have 2 different TQ ratings. Anyone have any expierence with both.

Long lived the stock T-5 :hail2: :hail2: :hail2: :hail2: :hail2:

Alright. The x2c one is out. I remember them being about $500 cheaper. Whats the g-force. Ive never heard of it.

BTW, It was gonna go sooner of later. I got a couple of video's of me barkin all 4 gears at the track. I just gotta get my friend to put them onto the computer.

Its a beefed up T5, it gets all new internals that makes it stronger then a Tremec, Lighter then a Tremec, you can still use the same shifter w/ it. Its about $1,500 for a rebuild.

Going through the same issue, I came to the conclusion that the gforce is the way to go, more than likely you broke your main shaft, and if you are pulling alot of hp, gforce stated that the upgrade can handle up to 600hp, but dont know how it will hanle those power shifts though.

Breaking things like transmissions are always a good thing :D. How many miles were on the car? I probably have a good 100 1-2 powershifts, and about 50 2-3 powershifts. I wonder how much longer mine is going to hold up for; you've got me nervous! :bang: I'll just make myself think that you didn't do it fast enough :D.

I bought the car with 95k and it has just under 110k now. I didn't have the balls to powershift untill about 106k. So take that for what you will. I also have a stock shifter and a new clutch. So it takes me longer to shift then on top of that the new clutch grabs really well.

Im still looking into the x2c trans. I comes with a shifter too so thats a plus. If I go the x2c route, Im going to borrow the money for a 331 shortblock to install at the same time.

Like Paul and slytherin said, do your homework before ordering a g force. Their product has the potential to be a great one, but I have heard some horror stories about customer support and bad parts once in a while.

Sorry to revive an old thread of mine but I had a question to the g-force customers. There is an article in the new MM and FF all about the g-force transmissions.

Im thinking about getting their straight cut gears and dog ring syncros trans. Would that be too much of a race trans. They also have your choice of 2 different gear ratios and a .58 5th gear. With a 3.73, would that drop the rpm's too low. I do do quite a bit of highway driving. I dont know what the rpm's would be at like 80 wiht that 5th ratio. This customer service is an issue steering me away from them but are their transmissions worth the extra cash.

The x2c and the g-force will probably turn out to be the same amout of money. Im the type that when Im going to do something I go all out. So Im not going to put a stock t5 back in. Ive been driving without 3rd for the week and its not too bad.

Anyone have any opinions on the g-force straight cut gears and dog ring syncros?

Don't use straight cut gears on the road. They are noisy and very hard to shift. Stick with the helical cut gears.

If you do a lot of highway driving, you will benefit from the .58 O/D gear. It will not bring the RPMs too low. With your current O/D gear, you probably can use 5th around 45-50 MPH, and should be turning about 1650 RPM. With the .58 O/D gear, you can cruise at 80 MPH and turn probably 2200 RPM. You won't be able to use it at "lower" speeds, but it will be beneficial at the "higher" highway speeds.

D&D performance, the one with all the tranny kits. Sells the t-56 speeds for about the smae as the x2c and g-force trans's. Now since I dont really want a hard to drive trans, Id be getting the helicut gears instead. Thanks for the info joe. The g-force would be cheaper. But is it worth the small amount of extra money to get a 6-speed. If I can talk them down Ill go with the viper spec.

Its all in the air right now. My car drives fine with only 4 gears. Although 3rd grinds at random when not even in geart. its just like a normal trans. Id like to get something that will handle abuse. Because powershifting is so much fun. And ive got into the habbit of doing it and not even realizing it.

what do you mean by this

because if you are driving it with all those pieces of third gear, and most likely pieces of that countershaft in the tranny you are gonna run into more problems, like if one of those chunks etc. gets in the wrong spot, no more tranny
