Hi... so I have to replace my exhaust... anyone with emissions pass with a x or h with high flow cats?? I can just bolt up my old pipe for the emissions... but anways.. I like a deep tone.. so I have heard x's aren't right for that.. but would x's with two high flow cats still be higher pitched??? or would the cats give them that lower tone like a h... I was thinking of a pro chamber from mac.. but am really unsure... have enough to buy one but confused.. have bbk equal length shorties.. I don't really mind it loud.. but deep not high pitched.. performance wise is a x better than say a prochamber.. (offroad).. oh and anyone know much about backpressure.. thought I heard once that it can be good... low vs high end torque... low vs high end hp... any h pipe or prochamber or x performance comparison would be awesome!! thanks guys!!

try mustangexhaust.com there are some sound clips in there of various H, X, and Pro chamber setups. Personally like the H pipe or Prochamber over the tin can X pipe sound. but to each his own.

Thanks guys..

thanks alot guys.. I appreciate the responses.. I have tried to listen to a bunch online and they are really a good reference.. the problem I have is that the videos are of different quality so it is kinda hard to get a good idea...and peoples setups are different.. I think hearing different setups in person would be the best bet... but not really an option for me... I've tried utube aswell and the same thing goes for that... I know the x is high pitched and I'm not sure that I want that.. but when it comes to an aftermarket o/r h pipe vs a prochamber.. anyone heard the difference?? or have any ideas? And about backpressure... anyone know if any certain setups will make a difference good or bad??? I heard a newer mustang once and it sounded like they had magnaflows... but it was really loud but deep.. not high pitched... any ideas what type of mid pipe would have been used.. someone said once they had a pro chamber but it was too quite?? would a offroad h pipe be louder??

go to mustang exhaust and listen to a file name called this:

FlowmasterAmericanThndr,BBKoffroadH,factory,88GT

That's pretty much what my GT sounds like that. Not sure what cam that car has, but mine has an E303 and it lopes (pretty much like that one) and sounds absolutely bad ass. To each their own, though, so you may not like it, but it's definitely deep and definitely loud.

My LX has stock cam, stock headers, mac pro-chamber and 40 series flowmasters. I like it, but I don't have a clip. I think it has an exhaust leak or two that I need to fix.

EDIT: Keep in mind, your car will stink w/o cats. If you sit in traffic w/ your windows down for very long, it starts to suck...I'm sure other drivers don't like it either if they have to smell it. I always turn it off very fast when I get pulled over so a cop doesn't say anything. Also, if you really want it loud, you could dump your exhaust after the mufflers instead of running full tailpipes and that will make it louder. The sound will bounce off of the ground.

I run the MAC shorties, PRO CHAMBER and flowpaths out back,That set up sounds sick. it's got a sweet rumble not to loud when goin down the road, but if you drop the hammer HOLY CHIT is it loud.

The guy at my gym has a grand prix,he came out to check out the stang,so when I was leaving he was walking beside the gym building (now this is at 9:00am you could hear a pin drop), I fired it up started toward him and at at 25MPH roll I lite him up right past him.

It was so loud,he curled up into a fetal position when I went by:lol:
I was laughing so hard I almost crashed.

But yes the PRO-CHAMBER rocks, and my buddy said he now wants a stang.:nice:
