Couple close up shots of the new battery tray, I mocked it in this evening before heading over to heavy's house to finish up his car.

I think this thing is one of the most killer looking optima trays made. I scored it on ebay, guy cnc's them in Michigan, took one day for it to get here. I literally ordered it yesterday morning.. and it was here today..

Mock up consisted of finding a way to hard mount the side that is closest to the motor as when you remove the stock tray you lose the mounting point with it.

I torched and bent a piece of 3/16 steel stock I had laying around and drilled two holes as mounting points.. I'll have it powder coated, probably do the tray as well..

Here's the box close up's, I'll have the mocked in shots following shortly:

That looks really nice! Will an optima not fit in the stock battery tray?

BLKND - it fits fine in the stock tray, but the battery area not being finished off with everything else I have done under there, kinda detracts from the overall look. This thing cleans it up, highlights the battery, and is really an eye appealing piece.

Kool- I'm fumbling on powdering or not.. I could go two directions here. Polish, since it is diagonal of the polish blower, or powder orange. The orange would be cool, but the battery is a red top, and the sides grey. I think the polish would look better in scheme I think...

I'm gonna mull it over for a day or so..

Makes since, nice battery tray to go along with the rest of the car. I asked because I plan on getting an Optima after I pick up my car. Optima's are the only battery that has survived my Monte Carlo so far.:D I'm with you on the polished look, but either way you go it will still look nice.

Would require some masking work, but IMO, the turnout would be awesome! Have the red top battery, mask off the top and outsides of the tray and have the insides done in black. That would look good going from red battery to black to aluminum:rock:

Update:
Did a bit of Photochopping...
