is that completely out of the realm of possibilities? this motor is completely stock except for the exhaust side. 200k on the odo and its never had a valvecover taken off. its been running synthetic oil for as long as ive known the car. its been well taken care of. since ive owned it, close to a year now i guess the only thing ive had to do to it is change the water pump.

if its a bit crazy ill start peicing together another motor. im not looking to make alot of power, just more than i have now. this is my DD so i cant afford to break the thing.

im sure its been discussed a thousand time but searching turns up a thousand pages of off the wall stuff.

That pretty much answered the question for me. Don't do it, if your just looking for some extra power then do a h/c/i of some sort. That way you will have a good top end, if/when you replace the bottom end you'll be ready to boost it then.

Good luck!

:stupid: You would have a new top end and valve train and lighten up the car like 50lb if you went with aluminum heads. Just some things to think about

I know how you feel about wanting more power but TRUST ME it will never be enough. I was in the same boat as you once. IF you put a SC on a motor than is as old as that you will want more and more boost and that thing will blow sky high and will cost you MORE money than you think. Start out small and prep the engine for that..Please listen to what everyone is telling you unless you just want to blow money in that case pm me and I will send you my address lol

to fufill the speed craving you could by a cheap nitrous kit, just drive the car normall during the week and turn the bottle on during the weekends for some fun around the streets, dont have to go too big, you could probably put a 100 shot on with no problems.

meanwhile while you have fun with that you can start an engine, get a good block and spend some cash and time and build a NICE tough HCI blower engine. get it all ready to swap in and then pull your stocker out, if its still in one piece, sell it for some cash. then run the HCI blown engine and go FAST, you could sell the nitrous kit for some cash to work on the car, or even add spray to the mix on the blown engine for even more power and air cooling
just a wild idea lol

Depends, are you someone who can control your urges heh. You could run 6-8lbs on that car for a long time as long as the car has been well maintained and you have a proper tune not relying on an fmu to try to get the fuel right.

Superchargers are easier on a motor than nitrous is, supercharger will build cylinder pressure as rpms increase, but nitrous is an instant gigantic jump in cylinder pressure and thus is much harder on the car than blower alone.

You could get a 6lb kit and pickup 70-100hp and be fine with proper supporting stuff.

i mainly want an extra 100whp. HCI wont give me that alone will it? id be fine with running lower boost in this car. i wanna have fun ill just get the import out. its got more power than the LX will ever have.

i wouldnt mind HCI but a SC will give me more bang for the buck i think.

you get a 100 RWHP out of a SC I think you would need around 10 psi. HCI can get you 100 rwhp if you choose the right setup. My stang on a mustang dyno put 320 with my setup before the SC and that was with a HCI and some other minor bolt ons. After you buy the SC and everything else you need to make the SC run right then yo ucould have easly got the RWHP that I had with the all motor setup. It sounds like you are trying to get more power from 1 bolt on. An import I wouldnt waste time or money on but thats you.....acually thats funny though cause here is a joke that a friend on stangnet left me on my myspace.lol

Twas the night before Christmas and caught at the light,
Was a domestic V8 and no cops in sight,
I will try, I will try, I will try with this small motor,
To beat this damn Mustang, even with its great big blower,
As the light goes green and I pull like no joke,
The Mustang erupts in clouds of tire smoke,
Now Smasher, now Rev-ver, now Stroker, now Blitzin,
These are the names of my four VTEC pistons,
Racing ahead I'm the star of the action,
But I know I'm in trouble when the V8 gets traction,
Grabbing second, I hear the RPM's sing,
My mirror is blocked by my shopping cart wing,
I now hear the roar of the big beast gaining,
All I can do to keep the four-banger straining,
In a second, the shock wave hits with a blast,
And my stickers go flying, now a thing of the past,
Don't bother with third, cause now it's too late,
Just try to act cool, like you can relate,
Looking up at the taillights as they get smaller,
The driver backs off just to give me a holler,
"You can't win them all," he says in a fling,
"You may not win any, in that silly thing,"
I smiled and revved as he pulled out of sight,
With my new mods tomorrow…it will be a better night

Anyway I would go HCI first but that is just me:SNSign:

ok, i guess ill start putting together a topend. FWIW i had the import long before the stang. its made 500whp and soon to shoot for 700 this summer. currently im working on a drivability tune.
