Looking at a new car, what do you think

Thanks for the replies guys. The carbon fiber is of no concern. It takes 5 minutes to change it out. The wheels don't either, as Welds would be going on it.

What do you guys think a car with that many miles is worth? 9K?

Not a bad price, I just can't stand the wheels and carbon fiber. Last week I had a guy try to hand me $10k cash for my 96 Mystic with 126k miles. The price isn't bad, but I've seen some very nice Mystics (more miles) for about the same price (but they look WAY better). That same shop had another near mint Mystic listed a week or two ago. As said, just make sure that it IS the car you want. There are plenty of Mystics out there. Maybe this will work, but there are tons on SVTperformance.

I know you really want that vette but i would seriously jump on a mystic. Are you planning on paying it all off or making payments. I'd say if your buying it straight out than its something you could keep and still get the vette a little later so you could keep the mystic as a collector(if your in to that), just an idea. Its a really nice car that can also be a frigging beast.

exactly what I was thinking. I'm looking at paying cash on whatever car I buy.

It seems kinda iffy to me. Cars like that with such little miles and so proudly advertised as rare/original versions are usually kept bone stock by the owners, I don't get the addition of the cheap-y wheels, although that could be looking into it too deeply and could very well be nothing more than him wanting to add some flavor. I dig the Carbon Fiber alot on Mustangs (reminds me of my old GT :) )

That Mileage is super low which is great, but I'd be pretty concerned with the problems that may arise from a car that has been probably sitting most of its 12+ year life. The Mystic looks super clean though in the Pictures, I'd be weary of a Car I haven't experienced first hand before buying though.

Also the mismatched (?) Interior panels seems a little weird.

Aside from that, I think it's a sick car, and although a C5-C6 would obviously be more ideal for you, this thing would be a beast after you're done with it, and is still one of the sweetest Cobra's ever made IMO, 96-98 body with Mystic.

Considering everything were to check out well, I'd try and get it for around $7-8K. In todays market the guy just might let it go for that cheap.

Good luck man!!

Personally I wouldn't touch it unless you want it as a show car/collectors car to sit in a garage and even then you should ditch half the crap that person did. Yes the mystics are cool no doubt but first time you have to have anything repainted you'll be kicking yourself.

Not long ago I found a couple of different people selling 97-98 Cobra's with transplated 01 Cobra engines in them, low miles for under $10k.

thanks for the replies guys.. I'm going to sit on this one for a while.

BTW, anybody else notice it's a little quiet around here without the 12 year old, Juecke?

It looks like a nice car. I noticed the dash to that part of the dash looks different unless the guy before you wanted a different look to have a two tone interior most likly. Be careful around dealers with these older special mustangs. In cali there is a scam in small dealers with Mach1's were the mach's are repos and wrecked but it does not show up on a car fax. I would go for it if it checks out, Mystics are getting rare. I would go for this instead of the vette because they made a lot of vettes and not many mystics and they will most likly be collectors cars in time to come.

That's weird about the Mach 1's. I notice alot of Mach's for Sale when I look in the Autotrader, which I always found weird because I didn't think there were enough on the road to make up for such a high Used market.

I just think that's due to the timing of things. Most people sell cars at 3-5 years for the latest and greatest. I looked at alot of them in March/April when I bought mine and they were legit and all checked out fine.

I have always liked Mystic Cobras and if I could get my hands on one, I would. There is something with this Cobra that bugs me and I would not get it. I cannot put my hand on why I do not like this one. The little cosmetic things I could deal with easily and fairly cheap. It is something that just does not seem to add up for me regarding this car. I am pretty good at picking up good used cars over the internet, and I would pass on this one. Just my $0.02.

i really dont think the rims are all that bad. sure they look like ferrari knock-offs but if you fill in the (smaller) space between the spokes its basically a chrome 95 cobra R rim.

carbon fiber has to go. i wont argue that point :D

BTW, ive NEVER seen that depth in mystic paint. the paint is beautiful

PS that driver seat looks terrible for how little it has been driven, notably this picture:

I wonder if that discolouration of the interior parts is not just the flash of the Camera. In the other interior image from a distance, the parts match in colour.
