I wont agree that Belichick had a good foundation when he took over. What he has done to keep the team as successful as they have been for this amount of time is unbeatable.

How will you not agree? The Pats were in the Sb a year or two before BB took over

I see a point but Cowher missed the playoffs twice in 15 years. Noll had quite possibly the greatest team built through a draft with no free agents or trades. Free agency is a double edge sward. It can really help a team or bite it in the ass. Everyone says its harder with free agency. I kinda disagree. If a player wants to go to a winning team they have the chance to. It used to be if you want to go to a winning team, get better

They went in 96 and lost and did not return or be a dominent team again until 2001. Since 2001 (this year being an exception) they have won the division pretty much every year and have made a superbowl or deep playoff apearence. A Belichick coached Patriots team has been much better then a Bill parcels coached team

Belichick ranks 5th all time of coachs w/ the best win percentage at .625. Currently hes is the #1 active coach w/ the best win percentage.

But you know he just took over a good team and he had nothing go do with it

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Some of you are such sports experts

That team was well built. I never said they were not a well coached team. I'm just saying its not like BB took over a horrible team and made them great. I wouldnt mind having him as a coach but far from the greastest ever. But hes not done yet. Time will tell

Good win for Pittsburgh today but I saw two things that are bothering everyone. Give Willie a fullback. Your line is not good enough for a siongle back formation. And the line needs to make their checks faster so the QB can snap the ball with more than one second or none on the clock. Gives the D a chacne to time the snap

I know but others are making it out as though Belichick is nothing special when it comes to coaching.

Is it possible to have the perfect game tonight where the giants win, cover the spread, get the under for points and Eil has a horrible game? Can only cross my fingers and hope.

When was he good in the first place? My little brother could throw for 400 yards to Moss and Welker. He has a 85 QB Rating. Fairly AVERAGE.

Ok I have been gone awhile but I have to jump in on this..

A lot of people are overrating the crap out of cassel right now.. He is no tom brady he is not even 10 percent of tom brady..

A lot of misguided people are comparing this season to the 2001 patriots, But where that whole point come off the tracks of the logic railway is that the surrounding team cassel got is vastly superior to the 5-11 team sub par offense brady took over..

The 2008 patriots are just about a carbon copy of the record setting 2007 pats except for the absence of number 12 yet they are mid pack in the league in offense???

Anybody who knows enough to tell a football from a basketball should be able to see that matt cassel is a average qb at best...

From what I have been reading this whole thing is about belichick and his place among the greats..

I think belichick is a great defensive mind who is excellent in the front office but I think the reason for the patriots dynasty in the earlier part of this decade and the continued run of success is tom brady..

If he never drafted brady or made the move to him ( it was a matter of weeks even if bledsoe did not get hurt) the pats would have never won a thing.

His best moves in his first few years was starting brady and getting rid of terry glen.

LOL almost forgot drafting seymour, picking up vrabel... I guess I could go on he made all the right moves in his early years here in NE but the big one was drafting and starting brady.

But back to football...

Anyone watch the Ravens potentially get hosed on that ridiculous overturn by Walt Coleman on the Holmes TD? No way that ball was in and even if it was you had no indesputable evidence to overtrun the call on the field. Granted it would have been 4th and about 2 inches but still.

I agree - crap call to turn over. I couldn't 100% tell that the ball had crossed the plane, i know his body and feet were in.

On the ensuing drive though i think they would have went for it and punched it in for a TD

I agree they probably would have went for it on fourth, but many a goal line stand has been stopped by the Ravens D. They deserved at least the chance to stop them.

They had plenty of chances. That drive started on Pittsburgh's own 8 yrd line. Even Ray Lewis saw it that way

Yeah, no way that should of been overturned. i think the Ravens D would of stopped them too if they had the chance to.
Just like on that 4th and 1 when Pitt decided to go for, the Ravens D stopped them, Somehow, the line judge spotted it about a yard past the first down. Ravens challage it and lost. On the reply there was no way they should of got the first down, they clearly gained nothing :notnice:

Giants are in some serious trouble :(

Yes they are, and they are going to lose next week as well. Dropping 3 in a row this late in the year will not be good considering when this is when they were heating up last year now they are cooling off. The run could only last so long and w/ Jacobs being iffy it wont help.

I know New England wont make a February appearance this year so my only other hope is that the Giants dont either. No one this decade has gone back to back except for the Patriots. I want to see it remain that way.

again, the drive started on the Pittsburgh 8 yard line. They had PLENTY of chances to stop them.

But the ball did break the plane. The call was the correct one. The ref that spotted the ball had a Ravens player right in front of him and he had to peek around to see. He was the one that said NO TD. I actually heard Baltimore fans saying that Baltimore deserved to win that game becasue of that call alone. It would have been 4th and less than an inch. They would have gotten it. Baltimore couldnt stop them on that drive. and again, they had 92 yards to stop them
