Shiny now.

Now I will resand the middle, and spray it with semi-gloss. It might be Monday before I do that.

Stunning man, looks like you poured oil on it
Thanks man.

Honestly, y'all can get really smooth panels as well. After you've painted it, sand it down again with some 600-800 grit and reclear coat it. It's amazing what that does for a panel. You'll only need one coat more, I used two on this hood (really three over the GLX area) because I want to block the lettering out flat before I spray the semigloss over it.

When you get to painting your car, call me. I know clear isn't cheap, and this takes more work after you will have already shot it.

For a literal show car that someone is paying out the wazoo for, this is the way it gets done.

I've only done my hood this way since Robby will be just a daily driver. He'll be pretty, but he'll also be dd.

I got the left panel sanded down with 400 and sprayed the chip guard on it. Once that dries I'll sand it down lightly with 400 grit to just take away from the gritty feel, go over it with a red scotchbrite to score the rest of it. Then paint it, should be today sometime.

Here's a close up of the repaired area.

No, no .....I'm serious>

Isn't that a designator that means "6 cylinder inside"?

Conversely I guess it could also mean Grandpa Likes his eXlax
Ok Mike, you ready for this? GLX stands for Grand LuXury. Seriously.

BTW, there were lots of 5.0 GLX's. This option was only offered in '82&'83.

Makes me feel all sorts of pretentious.

To continue on with our little lesson here. LX stands for Luxury. This was because there used to be just an L model. I'm not sure what L stood for, maybe Lame? I think L used to be the luxury model back when you could get a mustang that was just a mustang.
