Depending on customer work, today i'll be getting after my mirrors and window trim.

I need to clean up the mechanism of the mirror itself, i was thinking maybe brake cleaner to get the cap out of the deep part of he adjusters. The mirrors themselves look pretty crappy, i'll had to see if i can brighten them up or just get the mirror replaced.

The mirrors are cleaning up nicely. I thought I might have to replace the mirror part of the assembly because I thought the corrosion got behind the mirror. I needed to use a razor blade to scrape off some of the corrosion, but it's real nice underneath.

Razor blades might be one of the most underrated tools in the box.

Here's something I'm doing with my mirror's cables. I'm spraying the crap out of the back with brake cleaner. The idea is to remove any old lube that may be in those spring guides so I can hose it down with some fresh lithium lube. Another not much done picture of the back after cleaning out the dirt and using the brake cleaner. Tell me if y'all think this is a good idea or not.

The mirror sure does move smoothly now.

The mirror covers? Where are they?

Right here, I painted them this afternoon. The finish is the same as the interior (half an eggshell). They're still wet in this picture. They're a little orange peely, I shot them with my mini jet paint guns (itty bitty version of my full size guns). The guns are in a desperate need of cleaning, and in fact are soaking in an acid bath over night. I will live with the orange peel here, not on the main panels though.

I included a second picture with my sun lamp shining on one of them so you can see they're the accent grey.

Thanks Chris. Two little projects in a row. Nice seeing relative immediate results like this. It's satisfying that the mirror mechanism works so nice now too. Smooth as butter.

I know I've mentioned this before, sometimes the little things really are neat.

I want to believe the next project will be simple too, the window mouldings. The chrome plating, no matter how cheaply applied by the factory, still is a pita to sand. I'll get after them tomorrow. I'll throw the mirrors together real quick first thing. I guess i need to figure out the mirror's gasket now.

Looking good Dave! As always, amazing work. Those tail lights are amazing man.. when do we get to see the body in color, or did I miss that? I'm working 7 twelves at the plant and haven't kept up with much..

Yeah Nick, I didn't notice that until a little bit ago. I should have angled them better for the infinite mirror picture huh?

So, the back from late for my steering wheel has these contacts for the cruise control.

You'll notice the plastic separation rings are corroded to hell, literally turn to powder when I touch them. How important are those rings? I figure they must be there for a reason. I hate to try to find a replacement piece for this.

Positive and negative are isolated by that insulating ring dave...You're gonna have to replace that unless you just want the horn to honk all the time.
