Tomorrow i'll need to paint the right 1/4 front moulding. I left it inside the car, duh . Luckily I have two extra door mouldings and will sacrifice one and make it into several shorter mouldings.

Today i also sanded down the steering wheel backer and the interior windshield trim. I sprayed rocker chip guard on the trim. I'll sand it tomorrow and paint it with the left side trim piece and the steering wheel piece. I need to remember to paint the center panel of the steering wheel.

Depending on time, i'm going to try to work on the exterior window trim. I need to sand the lower rear window piece and get it etched and primered.

I don't know if i'll get the window trim painted tomorrow, thursday at the latest. I'll paint the drip rail mouldings at the same time.

Oh yeah! I got my new lower windshield mouldings in from LMR today too. I'll paint them this week too. They'll have the same satin finish as the hood and bumper.

I'm going to go to one of our local auto upholstery supply stores this week and take my package tray with me and see what they offer in materials.

Next payday i'm buying the new driver's floorpan! I'm going to go ahead and buy the crossmember piece as well, maybe the payday after next. I need to buy new seat bolt brackets for that floor pan as well.

Hmmmm,....:chin

I actually had a whole reply w/ pictures linked where I was asking why you simply didn't buy the "hat rack" board that upholstery shops stock for less than 20 bucks. I went and got mine from one of those shops, and transferred the mount clips,..insulated the bottom w/ HD bubble foil,...and covered the top in a layer of 1/8" thick dense vinyl top foam before covering it in leather.

But I thought better of it.

I figured you were tired of me telling you to just go out and buy something, beings as you are such a refurbishing machine..

Got those picks for you, buddy.

I didn't realize that it actually isn't particle board but compressed jute ( like you stated )

I still think it could be made easily with compressed board and some jute style insulation. Looks like it needs to end up 1/2 inch thick in the middle. The fiberboard would make the outter shape and the insulation would make the bump in the middle. The bottom of the board could be covered in thin packing foam ( glued to the board ).

Little tidbit. I cut out a new front right 1/4 moulding and shaped it. I'll probably paint it tomorrow with the drip rail mouldings, 1/4 glass trim and mirror trim mouldings.

Friday I'll finish off the interior parts.

@Davedacarpainter
Did your coupe have lower molding, like a splash guard?

Kind of the same shade, huh?

Close, that was the color my first car I painted was supposed to be. It had a black pearl base that you had to continue mix between coats.

I did the first 3 quick coats, and my brother in law did the last 2....but he didn't remember to stir before he poured....end up black haha

Here's another little victory in finding a hard to locate small piece. I found these at foxresto.com. NOS

They're the covers that go on the seatbelt attachment at the upper b pillar area. My old ones were dust after i tried to slip them off. I wasn't sure i'd be able to find new ones at all. They look solid in this picture, huh?

I'll be painting a few small interior pieces black tomorrow, I'll get these shot then.

Here are my rocker moldings that i got Thursday evening.

I don't know if you can see the rear of the right side. Apparently at one time the clip was broken off and a PO just ran a screw through the moulding into the rocker to hold it on. I'll have to repair that and put a new stud back on the rocker
I'm trying to decide if i want to reinstall them on the car or just grind off the clip studs and go without. If I keep them I'll get them sanded down, work out the dents and probably bondo them smooth. Then primer them and block them out. I will be spraying a good rocker guard on them (a type that lays fairly flat). I would do this step to give the paint even more cushion to prevent rock chips. Then they would get painted the same grey as the rest of the trim.

I lean towards the idea of keeping them right now.
