Ok, got to the yard and cleaned out my mustang of all the :poo:that was in the interior.

While there, the yard owner showed me a few of his supercoupes. He narrowed it down to the one he'll part out for me.

I only got one picture, and that's of the engine bay. The mosquitoes were dining on me pretty heavily, so I didn't spend the time there that I originally wanted.

Oh well, here's the donor.

He hasn't quoted me a price yet, but I'm sure he will be more than fair.
Good for you Dave! I hope your six banger turns out to be as fun( sometimes) as mine has been.

It won't be as cool as yours, but I will take my time rebuilding it. I'm really looking forward to this.

I want to do something special with the s/c plumbing. I'm not sure what though....powder coating? Something a little different than the other supercoupe engines i've seen.

I want my engine bay to be somewhat breathtaking without being overly blingy. Maybe just by being super clean with tasteful accents. A mild wire tuck just to help with the crowded mess of a look from the factory.

I did some mods several years ago on a 91' or 93' S-coupe I forget which year exactly. Had beautiful pearl white paint. Installed a different S/C outlet, Bigger t-body and air meter, some exhaust work, a different pulley set up and a electric fan on the I/C core. Was a 5 speed car. Made 350whp and the best part was over 425 lb/ft torque. Was a blast to drive.

Oh, it's a 6.

What will they take before before spitting out parts?
The T-Bird SuperCoupe 3.8 was a stout piece. The N/A version in the mass produced cars had head gasket issues among other things early on. Later, the 3.8 became a pretty reliable engine. The one in my 01' Mustang was at 187K miles when I sold it and was going strong. Never had a v/c off.

The supercoupe has a completely different head and block over the standard 3.8 V6. Larger cooling jackets mainly.

It has a forged crank and rods and the pistons are still hypereutectic but made with a little different composition to make them stronger.

The head gasket issue can be resolved with using studs on the heads, btw. Which I intend to do when I get to the reassembly stage.

@Bullitt347 , They really are little torque monsters, aren't they. 425 lb/ft is a little more than I was thinking I want with this engine. I'm thinking in the 350-375 area. This car will be daily driven even in the winter.

Of course I say that now.......

Aluminum is meant to be polished or clear anodized....that entire intake is all aluminum. Could always throw some kona blue under there, too.
I have time to consider what exactly what I will do.

I'm not so big on body color on the engine, though there are some phenomenal exceptions to this rule out there.

Maybe toward the accent color though? Polishing is nice, but it needs to be maintained.
